Keith Meinhold: Uh, no! I have a soft spot for Canon since my beloved AE-1, but I prefer to enjoy photography for work and pleasure -- not labor over it. This looks huge and heavy and sadly is exactly why I left Canon. Fingers crossed my employer doesn't decide to add one of these behemoths to the inventory.

But Canon has many other Camera that are super light and compact. This is why they lead in the industry...and as a matter of fact any Professional camera with a good lens is going to be heavy regardless of brand name, and they're designed to get the best shot. If your aim is to have pleasure and not labor then you might as well just use your phone...

Thoughts R Us: Boom! For those who doubted that Canon could develop a stacked sensor...

Beautiful looking body. Nice to see the 1D style body in a mirrorless.

Malling that’s exactly what everyone said about 8K when Canon first announced it. No one believed it. Now Sony has an 8K camera but at TWICE the price.

Malling: So a stacked sensor with 30fps.., so much for the talk about global shutter. Not really surprised, as I simply think that technology is to expensive at precent. So something in the region of the A1, with better bending and distortion control and less dependence on mechanical shutter.

Autofucus like the R5... well it also works perfectly fine, new subjects however is always a welcome addition.

Eye control AF, great if it works, but not so great if it doesn’t., but this time I would like to see it work for everyone, even with contact lenses, glasses etc. or else it’s basically a useless feature for like half of the user base.

Integrated battery grip, this is gonna split the waters, some pro’s and wannabes love that, others like landscapers have no use for it. So I guess this will be more a A9ii competitor with lower megapixel like 20-24. As it will make room for a high megapixel R1 to compete with the A1.

Unfortunately the R5 is already competing with the A1. LOL

GiovanniB: Slightly dull colors. Not spring-like. Especially the cold and greyish greens. But perhaps it's just the camera setting. Or maybe I'm not enlightened enough to appreciate those "magnificent Canon colors" ?

At the end of the day, it's just another 70-200 f4 which I always loved. Nothing you can take with this you couldn't have taken with any other 70-200, starting from the early 80s.

At the end of day is all about sales and marketing. Ever wonder why CFO’s make millions...maybe is because they have a totally different approach than the one you have...

Alright.. Magnar.. are you going to buy that len's? I should hope so... because otherwise it's just a waste of time bragging about something you're not planning on buying. Kind of sad according to my point of view. Anyway...thanks for the advice..

deepDEEPpurple: WOW! What a meltdown of some in the CaNikon side. The salt is real.

It is understandable. Really.

If my favourite FF brand would be getting spanked left and right I would also be a bit upset:
A7RIV - best ever, better than any other brand
A9II - best ever, better than any other brand
A1 - best ever, better than any other brand

And then we have lenses:
16-35GM - best ever, better than any other brand, better than many competing primes
12-24GM - best ever, better than any other brand, better than many competing primes
24GM - best ever, best in all brands
35GM - best ever, best in all brands
50GM - best ever, best in all brands
135GM - best ever, best in all brands

But here is the dirty little secret: complain to CaNikon. Don't be hating on the Sony side because your favourite brand decided to release the RP and the KeyMission.

Up that mountain, competing with Sony, there is only Fuji. (get it? the Fuji mountain)

The rest are trying (and failing) to climb.

Alright folks just go buy that beautiful lens and stop talking about it. Sadly i believe we're all just being lazy about improving as photographer's by procrastinating our time in forums. SAD...

Yes, but even with the best lenses you still have deal with those Sony menus, that remind you of the Nokia phone’s of the 1990’s. By the time you navigate the menus to get the best setting’s you already lost the shot. Now that will make you just want to use your phone next time and keep your Sony camera in your bag, so you can just brag about it. Right? LOL

Thoughts R Us: OK...this comment is for @RubberDials who was wondering yesterday what my opinion would be of this lens...and also for folks like @MikeRan and @Handsome90, with whom I also enjoy some banter.

So, RD, here is my opion on this 50 f1.2 GM lens: I say congrats to Sony! I think performance wise it's probably about the same IQ as the Canon and Nikon equivalents. We can argue about minor tech details, but they all are going to give you some very wonderful looking images.

To me the main win for this lens is its lighter weight. That to me is the biggest advantage for most users.

I know many are raving about its fast AF speed, and that is nice, but I never really consider a 50 f1.2 lens one that you use for high speed shooting, but I guess people who rely on AF for video will love it.

It seems the only trade off is the focus breathing...for me that isn't a big deal but I can see how for some users that may be a big downside.

Let’s see if Sony can keep up with the next batch of Canon lenses:
Canon TS-R 14mm f/4L
Canon TS-R 24mm f/3.5L
Canon RF 10-24mm f/4L USM
Canon RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM
Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 IS STM Macro
Canon RF 35mm f/1.2L USM
Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM
Canon RF 135mm f/1.4L USM
Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-7.1 IS USM
Canon RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM
Canon RF 500mm f/4L IS USM
Canon RF 600mm f/4L IS USM
Canon RF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM
Canon RF 1200mm f/8L IS USM

PhotoKhan: A Sony a7RIV and a7SIII "best menu settings" will also be coming along, as soon as Chris and Jordan figure out a way to actually navigate the menus.

To the fact that i have used both Sony & Canon cameras, I can clearly state that the Sony menus are a lot more cumbersome and need to be simplified. The need to setup up custom menus on the Sony is a must... and with Canon not necessary.

I don’t waste my time reading about cameras, I rather use them. Ever hear musicians arguing about which instruments, or artist arguing about paintbrushes. Only folks who live in their mothers basement do. LOL

Zxaar, NO, because I’m not stupid enough to waste my time being a commercial for any other brand when I’m not getting paid for it.

remrebus just keep talking & talking endlessly about how great Sony is while your camera stays in it's bag endlessly gathering dust. And don't let anyone stop you from posting endlessly... Okay. And please proving me wrong... ;)

Just enjoy the camera you bought and stop comparing it.
Otherwise you'll never realize that what's standing behind the camera is the most important feature...

It's about the A7Siii...And the funniest part about fan boys is that the majority of the time they don't even purchase the camera they're bragging about. What waste of time... LOL

There are plenty of other camera brands that are also available with even better competitive pricing. No need to be a commercial for Sony unless you’re being paid for it. Otherwise you’re just not smart enough to value your time.
