My experience of Russian gear (A Zenith B) says it was a nightmare, not a dream and they would have been better waking in a hot sweat just before they found them.

On article Film Fridays: Requiem for all my broken 35mm cameras (97 comments in total)

My Spotmatic F has ceased to work. Like all Pentax shutters of that age it needed regular use and hasn't. I don't need or want it. Film is for me over and done with. It has been since I finally found a small digital camera to replace my GR1

This isn't enough of an investigation. It seems to vary by lens design. My Fuji 16-55 projects modest front element dirt onto the sensor very visibly. Other lenses are very tolerant. The location of principal/cardinal points varies a lot between lens designs and I think (needs someone cleverer than me) this means some designs will resist dirt on the front element and others not. My 16-55 had two modest spots that were recognisably the same spots on the images.

Reilly Diefenbach: O. Winston Link is smiling down on this one. Great job!

Yes, very Winston Link. I don't suppose it was done with a lot of single use bulbs wired in series though.
