Optimal Prime: Shot with an iPhone?

King Penguin: I'm a D600 user (amateur) and shoot with AFD primes, using the aperture ring on the lens....I just prefer it.

The Df doesn't offer much more but I'd buy it like a shot if I had the cash, it's a great camera.

......and by the way to all those sad M43 freaks trying to find ways of justifying their mistake in buying into a small sensor, if you get a bad back carrying a Df with a nice little AFD prime and perhaps another in your pocket..........the expression drama queen comes to mind..........Merry Xmas :)

veroman: A yesteryear design with not much else going for it ... unless ISO 6400 is your base ISO most of the time. Really, this is about as transparent a marketing idea as I've ever seen.

As a designer myself, I think it looks pretty terrible. As a photographer, having this camera would do nothing for me that I can't do with my other FF cameras. I don't get it. I really don't.

I can only guess that Nikon decided something like this would move the deep-pockets to reach in and help their bottom line. What other reason could they possibly have for putting out such a dated, clumsy-looking retrospective product?

Well, if I were Nikon, I would have concentrated on a top-tier mirror-less or, even better as a retro product, a digital rangefinder and Leica M9 killer.

Leandros S: For me, the winner has to be a camera that really broke new ground. As such, I think it has to be the Samsung Galaxy NX (first exchangeable lens camera with an OS that effortlessly ties in apps). Second place goes to Sony's A7(r) as the first full frame adapt-any-lens system by design. Highly commended would be the GX7 and GM1 for the electronic shutter option (silent). Also, a fully and reliably waterproof system camera would get my vote. It seems the 1 AW1 does not deserve that description.

ybizzle: Picked up a Fuji XF-1 for $250 in brown. Looks great and as an added bonus, you can have fun with people when you ask them to try and figure out how to power it on! Quite the attention getter at a party!

marike6: Another DPR compact camera announcement generating a fair amount of interest and lots of comments like the Olympus XZ-10 and Nikon P330 that we will probably never hear about again.
