How do I count "leg sections."

To my eyes, the Peak Design has 5 leg sections ( 4 locks ), yet the review states "Two leg angles, four leg sections".

The MeFoto seems to have same 5 leg sections and 4 locks, and the review says 5.

Looking at his gallery, the vignetting on many of the images jumps out.
Is this his style, or perhaps some aspect of the camera/lens?

tdkehoe: Was the lake that still or did you use an app that combines multiple photos to get the perfect reflection?

That's how still it was - it was COLD and EARLY to get that image. Later in the afternoon the wind picks up.

In reply to:

Woodyz: One of the best features about Pentax/Ricoh cameras is the TAv mode on the dial--it's basically SS priority + aperture priority + auto ISO. Very handy for capturing candid scenes (street, events, animals, kids, etc).

How is that different than using 'M'anual mode on (for example) Nikon, while having Auto-ISO turned on?

On article Action-packed: Sony a6500 review (1196 comments in total)

Viewed at native res on my monitor (2560x1440), the images look good. When I pixel peep, there is something about the JPG artifacts and out-of-focus areas that has this block, noisy look. The sharpest bits look to not have sharp detail.
Again, this is me viewing them at 100%; I've noticed this same "pattern" in the A6000 JPG's.

I hope the DPR staff picks up on the number of comments that include, "I'm really glad they picked <insert other lens> as a point of comparison."

DPR has a very good tool to compare camera bodies using their studio scene.

When possible, it's super useful (if not time-consuming for DPR) to see that side-by-side-with-similar.

In reply to:

cjf2: Beautiful image in a challenge with many good entries.

Thanks for the compliment... I'm really proud of this shot. There was a certain amount of planning and risk involved in getting it. Planning - deciding when best time of year to go is, aligning home/work to go. Risk - looking at weather around the valley for the preceding work and really being unsure i'd make the multi-hour drive to find the valley clouded over.

On article 1.4 and More: Canon EF 35mm F1.4L II comparison (250 comments in total)
In reply to:

marc petzold: The issue is sample variation, and here the Sigma differs more then the typical Canon or Nikon lens. The same goes for Tamron - both brands should really invest really more into their QC Department, even the lens would cost something more into the end. I've forgotten the name of the photographer, but he compared the Sigma 35/1.4 ART against the new 35/1.4 L II lens, and because of AF inconsistencies also, he clearly favored the Canon, but the Sigma is still very hard to beat for the asking price.

Would Sigmas dock be able to alleviate the AF inconsistencies that were seen?

Can I get excited about the AF module on this thing? Will we actually be able to achieve focus-accuracy parity with mirrorless... even if on just a few (one) focus points?

Get excited about anything you want... but the AF on this guy has tickled my fancy.

You can argue pixels, dynamic range etc.... but when you use page 11 and scan around the diffs between the Canon and the D810... staggering might be overstated. Or not.

I'm curious how one of these images works on Facebook.
FB tends to degrade JPG's heavily; I'm wondering if whatever metrics they use to determine how much additional compression on your JPG's would be modified based on these smaller JPGs ( in relation to their dimenions perhaps?)

I'm sure it's coming real soon...
