  • Notice marginal improvements so far. Nothing earth shattering. Have yet to test whether some of the non-advertised bugs have been fixed.
  • This is a "nobody is right" kind of discussion, really. Whether you consider the R big or not doesn't really matter. If someone feels like that weighs them down while traveling, it's too big. As ...
  • You know, this is a very interesting post (and perspective). The tailing off of the "Spanish flu" pandemic of the last century and the end of the First World War have often been cited as inspiring ...
  • I don't enjoy it, either. But my pleasure in traveling without feeling like a pack mule, weighed down with camera gear, and a slave to seeing the world in "shots" that might justify my servitude ...
  • Replied in I don't
I'm also a FastStone user. I combine this with Canon's DPP to extricate myself totally from Adobe's grip.
  • Totally agree. CS3 is still my favorite version. Fast and does everything most of us need. Sadly, Adobe has made it darn near impossible to install this version from scratch on a machine.
  • I don't know why some people feel that "updates" through the cloud justify the subscription model, as though it's required to get every update that a company releases. It's perfectly fine to use ...
  • Does the R6 have the 1.6x crop mode? I use that quite a lot on my R5 and consider it of real value.
  • The best travel camera is the one you always have with you. Ergo, smartphone.
  • Interesting. I've always hated Lightroom as well. Never understood the love for that program. It's got an interface from hell, as do most Adobe products, actually.
  • Agree. It's astonishing that Canon was able to go from the best grip (in the R) to the worst grip (R5/R6) in one generation. Maybe some key designer left the company?
  • Also, Adobe has it within its power to lock you into their subscription model by changing a file format so that you can't go back to an older, non-subscription version. It's like the Hotel ...
  • Yeah, that's been my experience.
  • Created discussion thread Do you do Adobe Creative Cloud?
I hate subscription software. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. Can I say that again? Yes. I hate it. So, having gotten that out of the way, do you subscribe to any of the Adobe Creative Cloud plans? ...
  • I find the customization of the M-Fn button quite handy on the R cameras. It's a pity that the R5 offers more customization options than the R. I especially like to set the M-Fn button to ...
  • Yeah, this was my thinking with the 85. I suspect it will be one of the last EF lenses I let go of, if I ever do.
  • I pretty much agree with this, except that I do prefer the dial to the top LCD. I can never actually see that darn LCD, and turning on the light for it is a pain. I will add that the battery grip ...
  • Listen to yourself. You were using your iPhone 12 pro max for travel photography for a good reason: Traveling light trumps whatever marginal improvement you might get by weighing yourself down with ...
  • So maybe I'm not crazy after all.
  • Replied in And the R?
I agree. The R could use a firmware update or two to improve features, such as eye tracking, if that's at all possible.
