"It's a winner," I can say after 2 weeks. Surprisingly, the electronic zoom works well. And at 1200mm (equiv.) the resolution and clarity are substantially better than the HS50 at 1000mm (equiv.). The battery lasted a full 6 hours during which the intervalometer snapped a shot of nesting bald eagles every 15 seconds -- including a rain storm mid-session which tested the water/dust resistance. It passed. And the WiFi control via smart phones is very nice. So far the only negatives are (1) S1's RAF files aren't yet recognized by Adobe RAW and (2) documentation fails to point out that digital zoom (2400mm equiv.) is turned off when RAW (RAF) images have been selected.
