Is electronic first curtain shutter used in those images with stripes? Turning is off might solve this problem.

So many limitations in 4K, unfortunately.

Conrad567: I will hand it to FUJIFILM, in a game of market share chess, they seem to be moving a step ahead of most everyone else.

I thought fuji is relatively late to the video market comparing to most everyone else.

Mirrorless cameras belong to the electronic imaging department, right?
But isn't most of the revenue increase coming from the photo imaging department?

How many phase-detection autofocus points does XA-5 have?
I am not able to find such information in Fuji’s press release or specs sheet.

Kiril Karaatanasov: By the way here are the financial figures for the imaging divisions of Canon, Sony, Nikon and Olympus for the last finished quarter. First figure is revenue, second is Operating income. Figures are in billion yenn. I guess they account different things as imaging products, so Canon, Nikon difference is not quite clear what is included in one vs. the other. Still the profitability and relative volumes are somewhat visible....Olympus is just 10 times less than sony....even if Sony and Canon, Nikon account all other things in imaging Olympus is very very far behind 4th player....

Nikon 383 ---- 17
Canon 271 ---- 39
Sony 157 ---- 18.9
Olympus 15 ---- 0.7

For me two things

1. The first three are much ahead of the 4th and others
2. Canon and Sony make decent money out of imaging, where as Nikon and Olympus are not doing so well. Nikon in particular shrunk more than 20% YoY

Your Canon number includes IJP (printer?) and others which cover about 2/5 of the total sales from Canon imaging.

The number you posted for Nikon is actually for the whole year.
Nikon imaging first half year: Revenue 178.3, operating profit 14.8.
The first quarter: Revenue 90.9, operating profit 7.6
Thus for the past quarter: Revenue 87.4; operating profit: 7.2

jaykumarr: Who first made AF in cameras ? Canon. Who copied and followed? Nikon all other companies.
Which Camera had 50% more pixels than D300 but almost same DR & Noise? Canon (7D). Who followed? Nikon all other companies.
Who first added tele converter in lens? Canon. Who copied and followed? Nikon .
Who made first DSLR?
It seems Nikon is performing better in AF,DR and all aspects compared to it s leader Canon.
Just making one photo copy by mistake is nothing.

"Who first made AF in cameras ? Canon." Are you sure about this?

zeratulmrye: nothing unexpected

I failed to see its value compared to GH5, 240FPS vs 180FPS?

Better noise reduction in video?

Link | Posted on Jan 11, 2018 at 15:24 UTC

I was expecting more improvement than this when comparing to GH5/G9 in raw.

panther fan: 2017 seems to be the year mirrorless finally takes of. Market share:

2013: 19%
2014: 24%
2015: 26%
2016: 27%
2017: 42%

My calculation of 2017 is 35%. Still a big increase from 2016 though.
Above 40% is expected for 2018.
If Nikon and Canon both release full-frame mirrorless bodies this year, I see more DLSR users switching to mirrorless systems. Over 50% for mirrorless is even possible.

Will the 4K video in 7DIII come with a 1.6 crop of the APSC frame?

I am more interested in comparing image quality to APSC cameras with kit lens.

Life recorder: "Most of the mirrorless shipments are going to the Asia region, though, which still accounts for more than 50 percent of all mirrorless cameras shipped"

And we know last year with only a couple mirrorless ILC bodies, Canon outsold BOTH Sony's aspc AND ff mirrorless offerings in Japan.

Can Canon keep that up with only a couple basic models? And what happens to Sony next year when both Canon and Nikon enter the FF mirrorless market?

We can criticize Canon all we want, but they are still dominating everyone else.

China has a much bigger market than Japan, especially for full-frame bodies.
I don't think Japan's sale number can represent Asian or worldwide quite well.

“But it's a lens we find ourselves returning to again and again as we test Canon's mirrorless cameras.”
I think it is at least partially due to the fact that there is no other eosm prime lens to choose from, except the micro lens.

What happened here?

Same sensor and process. Dslr and mirrorless.
Does making more models always translate to more sales?
