Wouldn't "wide open" be f2.0?

Great photo regardless!

It truly looks asleep! I have some shots with the lid closed, but only when blinking. Nice catch and congrats on a high finish.

Thanks Ysal. A few days before this was taken when I discovered the occupied den, I nearly stepped on a kit sleeping at the entrance. They blend in perfectly with the leaves on the ground.

This was my favorite of the challenge. You have a couple of dust spots on your sensor, but regardless, a beautiful image. I am going to have to get this lens :)

Nice shootin!

MarioSS: Very nice composition.

Thanks Mario. Unfortunately, I was trying to edit on a tiny netbook without really understanding the software. Maybe this version (using Lightroom) would have done better:

Still not what I was hoping for, but clearly better.

An eye for an eye. I was one of the 3-star votes. Not sure why you didn't do better. A nice surfing shot IMO.

mike schm: Was this taken on hwy 1, between Gaviota and Jalama Road?

Yikes! Can't believe anyone commented ;-)

Yes, near the top of the climb. I suppose it's not your standard portrait, but for me - I was pleased. We were on a bike tour from San Luis Obispo to San Diego.

Thanks for the comment.

This was my favorite in the challenge. Why it didn't finish higher, I'll never understand.

Better fit to the theme than the winner, but perhaps not as humorous. A wonderful photo regardless. Congrats on 2nd place.

On challenge Blown out Background (13 comments in total)

Did you actually verify all your rules against each submission? Seems like a lot of unnecessary work and probably not even doable. I see some violations - even on some with blown out backgrounds.
