landscaper1: Geez, Adobe doesn't make it easy. First you download, then you extract, and then you play guessing games trying to figure out which file will upload the update. Why can't they make it automatic like so many other software vendors?

Err, what ?

As far as I'm concerned they're history.

You seem to care, why post if you don't.

tonybelding: quote, "And, importantly, Luminar works on both Mac- and Windows-based desktop computers*."

No Linux, no deal. Lightroom was one of the last programs holding me on the Mac platform. Now that it's clear that I'll be replacing Lightroom, this is my chance to leave Mac OS behind too.

Corel Aftershot Pro 3, perhaps? But now I'm wary of even buying another commercial program, since Apple pulled the rug out from under me with Aperture, and Adobe jerked me around with Lightroom. After being burned twice, I'm not looking for another company to burn me again. Open source software (at least when it has any value) has a tendency to stick around.

Yeah, it will stay at version 0.8 for years.

EssexAsh: So, out of all that , is there a version that will get regular updates and still let you keep your catalogue on your local hard drive

The intern they allocated this task to clearly spent up to 5 whole minutes on the task.

Latest LR version is 6.10.1

Damn, he/she missed the .1
Hope Adobe will fire him/her

definedphotography: Be nice if Adobe fixed the bugs that causes LR to crawl after a short period of editing photos.

I'm sure they would fix it if it was happening with every computer but it's not.
Hard to fix a problem if you can't find it.

"Built-in high-resolution EVF (approx. 2,360,000 dots) with new Touch and Drag AF lets you manually move the AF frame displayed for more precise focusing in different shooting situations."

Hope users won't poke their eye while focusing.

steelhead3: Capture 1 will be taking over the raw processor software (they need an improved catalogue) now that Adobe doesn't seem to care about photographers and have punted rather than invest in decent trial versions.

C1 will take over LR at around the same time* as Linux will take over Windows.
