Look up sunk-cost fallacy.

After transitioning from sony to funi to Panasonic S1 I really appreciate the image quality from panasonic even more. The A7siii has an advertised 15 stops DR and new color science but still has a very digital look to it. For serious videographer z cam and Bmpcc and s1h or s1 is a much better value.

Z cam s6 with MFT mount and this lens will be your cheapest single solution anamorphic.

lol Sony is last place in video. Only thing they got going is AF which isn't enough to compensate their crappy codecs and color science.

we've all been fooled by canon before. I'll wait for actual samples. There are certain specs they omitted which makes me suspicious of it. If however there's no serious crippling, then I would just hope the price isn't 10K CAD.

Good sign for L mount users. We need more third party lenses.

fPrime: Right now there are only a handful of video nuts that have bought into L mount. So the market for EF to L adapters will be thin. But after the Canon R5 releases I suspect the L mount video market will evaporate and obviate this adapter.

Lol, Canon is pulling a Sony and enticing consumers to fantasize about their cameras in hopes of staying loyal to the brand. It is safer to assume that Canon would act based on their status quo- which is to over promise and under deliver. Canon blew it with the R, RP, and even M line up. If one is being reasonable, it's more sensible to assume the R5 specs have significant handicap. The L mount offers so much for videographer, the S1/S1H is basically a full frame IQ for the varicam with added bonus of IBIS and portability.

A7riv to me was the most underwhelming camera so I'm surprised it made it on this list. This begs the question - how many users here actually have an a7riv?

Fuji is king when it comes to APSC. XT30 and 35 1.4 is a match made in heaven

I dont shoot with canon or Sony but it is so hilarious to read all these insecure comments from Sony users. Sad part is I'm assuming these are coming from adults since it's not really a teenager hobby / profession. As panasonic s1 user I welcome this camera as competition is always good.. for everyone.

Props to the people being able to nail focus at 0.95 manually! This lens puts you in the trap. To justify 8000 you kinda have to shoot at f0.95. I dont even consider this an astro lens.. with sensors nowadays bumping up ISO isn't a problem. Cant wait to see how sharp a cats eyelash will be though when people post sample pics

Lol unlikely. S1H has FS level specs. Unless Sony is prepared to redesign their Alpha philosophy the the a7siii will just be an a7sii with A6400 autofocus. Maybe offer 10 bit external but I doubt it will be 6k or even 60p. Their bodies are too small and risk overheating.

16.000 $ for FF 6K@60 fps RAW.
To me this kind of specs are unheard of in this price range. Add the modularity plus the “reday-to-use” design of this camera and you can easily see it becoming another success story in the industry.

Of course you can buy "professional" equipment that would bring you up to 10k. The point is there are other professional products that are not 10k. There are tons of zcam rigs in the FB group that are way less than 10k. Not everything is as overpriced as canon gear

This combo with the kit lens and zhiyun m2 is the perfect vlogging kit. Just record audio externally with a lav and sync in post. Shooting at 15mm and f3.5 is good enough

This is perfect for hobbyist. Definitely not for pros. My definition of pro is someone who is getting paid to do that particular work. Apart from endorsements, I'd like to know who will hire someone using this phone for their corporate events, weddings, commercials for photo and video. Honestly, I'd like to know. If there is a market for this I'll gladly sell 10k worth of camera gear lol

Lol Sont fanboys getting anxious since for the longest time they kept harping on their superior brand. No Sony alpha body will come close to this. If they stick with their current philosophy of small bodies then the most they can do is match the S1.

Chriscotech: This looks like an extremely capable full frame video camera. As a Sony shooter I would like to think there will be an A7S III that goes some way to meeting these specs, but I'm not holding my breath. Sony has been slow to react to the pro market's demands for 10-bit internal (or even external) recording in it's mirrorless cameras. The Sony FS5 II and FS7 II camcorders have good bit depth and rates, built in ND filters etc. but they don't have any useable stabilisation and they aren't great in low light.

Although I wouldn't abandon Sony for stills work, I can see myself getting an S1H and some lenses for video, despite it being a different system. I would love to stick with Sony for video but I can't see them matching this any time soon. I hope I'm wrong.

The S1H is every bit of a stills camera as the A7iii. If anything itll be better with high res mode and better IBIS. The dual native ISO for stills is a game changer for low light photography

Lmao you actually think itll cost an additional 10k to rig up a ZCAM? There's no need to be defensive. Canon will still obviously be the more common choice due to the name but outside of that it's hard to ignore these newcomers. You dont need a smartphone to control it, but having the option to is a bonus to those that cant afford a monitor ;).

For $5000 you can get a ZCAM E2 F6 which is a FF EF mount with practically better specs except for built in ND and AF. But for a third of the price it's a no brainer

princecody: Can’t the Panasonic S1H do the same thing?

Almost. S1H doesn't have built in ND but it has IBIS, timecode, and you can get that xlr adapter for it. But the S1h is also a great stills camera
