This camera is totaled, the same as if it were a mercedes in a bad accident. Although, this may be a bigger health hazard.

EE-TV: Wow you can't make this stuff up. After debating and scouring the rumor mill for the past month I finally pulled the trigger on the Sigma 150-600mm (for my D5500) at the exact same time this has now been announced. Came to the conclusion this was a P900 replacement was always going to be an elusive urban legend that never was.

Now I must research this intently and decide whether to hold on to the Signature Lens or return it and invest in the P1000.
I actually know nothing about it, rushed over here in total excitement and posted my comment.

The D5500 and the
Sigma 150-600 , I think would be a superior combination. Don't waste your money on the P1000. The good thing is with the Sigma , when the super zoom is not need you can leave it home and you will still have a camera to take photos with.

If you have the money , are a Leica photographer, research this lens ,if it all adds up then buy it. That's how I decide if a piece of gear is worth it to me, but on a much lower monetary scale. The value of my opinion on Leica gear that i will never own is a waste of everybody's time.

For the money I'm very unimpressed . Maybe the pros are seeing something I can't. Sorry Nikon I'll save my money for a trip to Europe .

Even if this guy was stoned that's no excuse to be an A HOLE. He seems more bent because he got caught. Sue him!! By the way Fifty Cent and Sebastion Bach were both sued by fans for assault and had to pay those fans at least $100,000.

Steve in GA: I often send photos to my kids and grandkids when Google photos tells me, "these are the photos you took in (e.g.) 2006" Everyone gets a smile from the way hair, clothes and faces change over the years.

But, little did I know that I can sue my kids and grands if they post those photos on Facebook. Looks like I may have a new income stream!

(Hopefully, you know I'm kidding.)

I agree, that's always a possibility and a little leverage is not a bad thing. Thanks for the tip.

SarahTerra: Right on, sue him good.

Frightening and maddening to me all the millenials who grew up on social media that don't see a problem with using the photo unauthorized.

There used to be a world where your thoughts, privacy and rights were respected and valued.

The programmed youth of our time now give it up without a second thought, in the name of vanity and false hopes of fame. Then whine on facebook about how they are working at starbucks for nothing, and making someone else billions.

Trump 2016

I didn't know that Bruno Mars works at Star Bucks , he should consider a career in singing. Does Bruno know DJT?

tkbslc: I think it's terrible that you can take a photo of a child, who had no say in the matter, and then own that photo and get all the power over how that photo is used. What about protecting the image and privacy of an individual, especially a minor?

Good point and now she's suing the baby!!!! She must be a charmer.

My kids are too young to get money from their instagram posts. But I'm always photographing them, now I have a great plan for my future income Thanks for the tip!

tailings: You said every photographer, but there are a few obviously missing categories, such as:

Best Camera for Photographing Cats and Squirrels.

Best Camera for Chart Obsessed Gadget Fiend, (ie, Best Camera for Photographing Brick Walls).

Best Camera for the Fashionista/Hipster.

To name just a few.

I can't believe that I've been using the wrong camera for years for my squirrel photos. I hope this doesn't mean my chipmunk pictures are wrong!

GuitarCamera Man: Imagine that the self righteous purveyors of fake news the NYTimes are abusive and discriminating to their employees . What a bunch of hypocrites!

Well, The Times is a self serving rag that calls out those who don't fit their false narrative , along with CNN,MSNBC. I can't say how Fox treats their employees; I don't work there. I on the other hand work for an extreme left institution that is the opposite of their public image especially in the way they treat employees. There never were WMD, GW.Bush is a Lier and the worst president ever. The best example of fake news is" Russian collusion ".

On article Shooting with a used DSLR kit that cost me just $80 (282 comments in total)

This article expresses something I never understood about people's philosophy and that is when you buy a well made digital camera digital a camera that suits your needs(and pay a lot of money) it becomes"obsolete" when the next model comes out.
For what practical reason is a great camera purchased in 2009 for $1200.00 @ 12MP
not a great camera in 2017 and of course it's now worth a fraction of that $1200.00. The answer, there is no practical reason only an artificial one created by the camera companies that creates the illusion of being left in the dust of the latest and greatest.
