That Gold Award is good news for the L-mount system, since it should bring more users and hence more lens types to the market.

Great show Panasonic, keep it rolling . . .

Setting a launch price too low and saying later 'oops we got it wrong, we're going to increase price' is a no no in business. Always better to set high and let the market dictate the level.

NemanRa: is it better than an OTUS?
regards

Had a brief trial with the Canon 50mm F/1.2, extremely sharp, but still preferred my Otus 85mm for contrast. Obviously not the same focal length, so may not be a fair comparison.

However, I have recently aquired the Sigma 105mm F/1.4, which has me trying hard to convince myself that the Otus still holds that bench mark.

Some rather nice images there. Apart from those pin sharp portraits, I particularly liked the picture of the group of people in the alleyway. This is a lens I might need to check out:)

With its impressive 61Mp, I was hoping for a 'MF look', but they look kind of average.
In fact the Canon EOSR with its 'measly' 30Mp, but pared with its 50mm F1.2 look very close to MF.

vscd: Just check the DP1 Merrill in the green grass... with 15 MPixel and only $400 bucks it's sharper and has somewhat more detail than this large CMOS sensor.

Good point, interesting. . .

If nothing else it proves there is a substantial profit margin in the FF mirrorless body market. I predict prices to dropping to the £600 - £800 for entry models. For their lens, well that's another story. . .
