Sony, now that you decided not to fit the EVF why didn't you give us a larger bright screen?

Why are we stuck at 3 inch LCD's?

My smart phone has a 4.8inch screen. It is bright and high-resolution.

Not just you Sony, but all you camera manufacturers, take a dip into the phone world and give us some decent LCD's.

Flashback: Still no 4K from Sony?

Could it actually be possible that their new Bionz X processor, doesn't support 4K.

Any road, Panasonic must be smiling...

Greetings from Alpha Centauri...

The A7s can't manage 4k internally due to excessive heat build up.

The Panasonic FZ1000 manages 4k fine, albeit in a large body. However, this is 'cheap' plastic not metal and plastic is not an efficient heat radiator.

My feeling is that Panasonic's processor chip is maybe one generation ahead of Sony. Using a lot less power to handle the heavy 4k bit stream.

If however, Sony are deliberately holding back 4k for the A6001 and RX100M4, then this is purely marketing.

I recently cleared my loft of all my old darkroom equipment. Brought back some fond memories.

Some of it went to a Jumble Sale, the rest dumped. I did keep the enlarger lens though. Never use it, but a lovely piece of glass made by Hoya.

Thanks Kodak. Just hang in there...

Hey Leica, have a chat with the Panasonic boffins, and get some of that GH4 video magic into the T2.

It's Leica glass stupid....

I remember, everybody rubbishing the earlier X1, but boy did it produce some beautiful images.

My feeling is the M3 will have a very short life, as good as it is.

With the Panasonic FZ1000 sporting 4k and the imminent LX8 with 4k, Sony will have to reply with a M4 4k, to compete.

If you are tempted by this review (as I am), I would wait a little longer(July16).

'The 55mm F1.8 is quite sharp and also enjoyable to use'

It's actually from the A7 review, 'Handling and shooting Experience' page

It made me smile when I read that. Talk about damned with faint praise!

harry cannoli: I have to admit I'm a little bummed that the LX7 failed to stand out in any meaningful way, despite the fact that I'm a hardcore DSLR shooter who adores this little camera. Sheesh, I am a fanboy.

I suppose the big sensor in the Sony means so much more than the beautiful, super-fast, pin sharp lens in the LX7?

The lens makes the magic, the sensor records the magic made by the lens. The Sony sensor does an absolutely fantastic job of recording images created by it's plain vanilla lens. Of course the magic created by the lens is a personal judgement, but that Panny lens stands out, heads and shoulders above the pack. How can I see this and the respected, highly competent reviewers barely acknowledge the outstanding flavor of that Panny lens?

Oh, never mind. I'm a fanboy :(

Thank you Richard for getting this done. Good job.

Maybe the RX100 is just another case of the 'The Emperor's New Clothes'

Have to agree with you Harry. I had the RX100, great video but was never happy with the still images. I eventually sold it. Now I have the LX7.

Much, much happier with these new images. There is something special going on in that Leica lens...

Just makes you wonder, if the OLED EVF improves to the stage where it can negate the fitting of the preview screen on the back of the camera. Full circle!

Maybe true focus-free photography is the next big thing for digital. I think this is just the start.

If the Nikon 1 can shoot 60fps, maybe we could have many different focused images on one shutter click.
