The Sony FE 28/2, Zeiss Loxia 35/2, and the Zeiss Batis 40/2 CF are quite a bit better than what is shown in this gallery, that's for sure.

Tamron already did it with the Batis 40/2.

Mediocre, just like the Nikon. I guess at $500, that's ok.

The Loxia 21/2.8 is the best 20~21mm lens on the market. It works for astro.

It's a small UWA to always have in your bag as a second lens. You don't need AF at this focal length, it is super easy to manual focus this wide.

Perhaps I can answer some of your questions... (1) The Sony has internal focus (doesn't extend while focusing). External focus can suck in dust, but it is rare with high-quality lenses.

The Batis 85 is useless for macro. The FE 90/2.8 is quite decent for portraits.

The excellent Sony Zeiss 35/2.8 will do for now. I just love the images it produces. Until Sony releases an f/2 or f/1.8 version of it, I'm happy to keep shooting at f/2.8.
