Considering you also do wildlife, why not get the 1-500 to use for both landscape and wildlife, and sell of the 15-35, the 24-105, the 70-200 and the Nikon gear? Just saying.... :)

That's not what I meant. I am saying that if you need to use a spot AF point to get focus on an eye, then you aren't seeing much but the eye because had to use spot to get focus. That is true ...

?? Spot AF is about the same size on both. However, the single AF (1-point) point is larger on the R5 than the single-point AF on 5D bodies. I find that if I can see the eye, then eye AF will get ...

Nonsense. If it is defective, it is defective. They cannot claim to be perfect and to even try that is never going to fly. Many have had to send their cameras back to Canon multiple times on the ...

Your camera is defective. Send yours shots to canon and let them fix it again.

Very nice. I already have 3 telephoto lenses and I can't really justify this from a need basis, but 800mm in a lightweight, relatively low-cost package is hard to resist.

Everyone is different, but for me this is a reason to avoid third party ones (obviously I am open to saving some cash if/when I can). I don't want to have problems down the road from using a ...

And what did they do about the poor fit? That was my main reason for returning it. And the rapid firmware updates is no good sign.

In my experience, IBIS on an EF lens with IS is no better than just lens IS, but IBIS on an RF lens with IS is incredible. I get great battery life and I never turn IBIS off on my r5, and that is ...

I ordered a refurb 35 mm f/1.8 3 months ago, on sale. I still don’t have it and canon has not said a word to me about my back order. Don’t do it.

Skip the viltrox. I had both in the control ring version but the viltrox did not work on my r5 in august. Worst yet, is that the viltrox had play (loose) in the system with a lens attached.

This. But statements about crop sensor lenses worry me. Do we really need those if there is an M line? I will also keep my eye open for a higher res video-stripped R5-type body.

Maybe for you, but to me there are not even in the same league.

I think this makes a lot of sense. There will always be those who value, above all else, an extremely small system. Having that exist along side a more high-end system (I hate that term) means ...

You want to pay $2500 for a 18 MP sense in 2020? I really hope canon doesn't think the same as you, for this will doom crops sensor cameras forever.

$2500 for a 18 MP crop sensor camera. Hell to the NO. Not buying that, end of story.

Hype does not make one great!

First off, get into bird photography first and learn it using the bare lens. you can get an extender later. Second, the 1.4 will sharper and faster to AF than the 2X. In fact, the 2X may be very ...

I admit to using mode 1 a lot when I should not be. Even with the r5 and the 100-500, I often get good results, especially if I up the shutter speed.
