I use lots of manual lenses: Old cine-projector lenses which have super-soft bokeh (e.g. ISCO Ultra-Star HD-Plus), focussed using a helicoid Newer Chinese lenses such as the superb 7Artisans 50mm ...

Here's some samples: 7Artisans 50mm F/0.95 @ F/2.8 7Artisans 50mm F/0.95 @ F/1.4 7Artisans 50mm F/0.95 @ F/0.95

My favorite by some margin at the moment is the 7Artisans 50mm F/0.95 for MFT. Not only does this have a super-bright aperture (which is quite usable at F/0.95) but also when stopped down to F/2 or ...

Great to see some lovely shots with these lenses! Some further observations (after many years playing with projection lenses): The Schneider / ISCO Ultra Star MC in the region 90-100mm work really ...

I would also recommend the ISCO Cinelux-AV 150mm F/2.8 if you need a longer focal length, but it does have some purple fringing. Mike.
-
No I use it with a focal reducer on Micro 4/3 where it becomes ~58mm F/1.3 Mike.

Hi, These projection lenses do vary - I've had samples which are not very good at all and then others which are fabulous. I think they suffered from a hot and high-vibration environment when ...

Very nice! Looks like a lovely cat taken with a lovely lens... Mike.

If beautiful equates to super-soft bokeh I suggest the ISCO Ultra-Star HD-Plus projection lenses (the red ones F/1.85): Mike. ISCO Ultra-Star HD-Plus 80mm ISCO Ultra-Star HD-Plus 95mm Also the ...

Here's a couple taken on holiday in St. David's, Wales with my Pen-F and the Oly 9-18mm F4-5.6:

Rick, Thanks! The monochrome treatment was applied with Snapseed. In fact the originals were almost monochrome already due to the harsh lighting. Mike.

Some wild waves at Whitesands in St Davids, Pembrokeshire this week. All taken with Oly Pen-F and Pany 100-400mm, processed in DXO PL5.

This young woodpecker appeared on the lawn this afternoon. Grabbed the Oly E-M1 MkII and PanyLeica 100-400mm and shot through the window. Two shots came out really sharp: Oly EM-1 MkII with ...

Here's one of mine with the Pany 20mm F/1.7 (Pembrokeshire coast): My favourite lens! Oly Pen-F with Pany 20mm F/1.7 Mike.

Totally agree - its a lens thing not a sensor thing. I also like the Sigma 56mm F/1.4 (and also the Oly 45 F/1.2): Oly E-M1 MkII with Oly 45mm F/1.2

I have the Sigma and it does produce lovely results... However it can be bettered by some adapted cinema lenses I use with Micro 4/3: A Meopta 100mm F/1.7 with a focal reducer gives 72mm F/1.2 ...

Exactly I find the Pany 20mm is one of my most used lenses which gives great results. I've never noticed the bokeh issue mentioned (perhaps in the trees in the portrait shot below a tiny bit?): Pen ...

The 7Artisans 50mm F/0.95 (manual focus) is a game changer for Micro 4/3 (at least for me). It's sharp wide open and super-sharp from F/1.4 onwards. It makes a great macro lens too: Oly EM-1 MkII ...
