The difference between 20, 25, 33 MP is not very big. I use 80 mp pixelshift for landscape, that makes a visible difference.

Please DPreview add an 100 MP image of a properly lit and focused scene. Only the bottom grass is in focus here.

I guess the mask will act as an ND filter, so performance will be worse per area than a lens based system. The sensor can be much larger but it will require more silicon to build and that material...

For me, lens changes when shooting means a major drop in the creative flow. Im most successful with two cameras and no lens changes. This helps keeping the sensors clean too.
