Ben O Connor: How come full hd only is a gold award winner in 2017 ? And how can you offer an interchangeable lens camera (simply any brand) to a beginner?
Beginners should start with a camera that has PASM modes, has relatively big sensor (1 inch or M43 in 2017 standards), and something pocketable.

By lacking of functions and frustration (lack of zoom, lack of wide angle, lack of portrait dof, horrible in body mic, suffering bumpy footage, rapidly ending batteries, amazing landscapes with sensor dust....) any photographer will evolve their own gear by themselves. And preferably no a DSLR as a beginner kit in this century no more!

Back in the day my beginner"P/A/S/M cam" was XZ-1. It was and still amazing. I still use it Underwater photography.

But today's standars, that camera would better be RX series of Sony, LX series of Panasonic, Gx series of Canon Powershot.

But I must admit, there are very good and capable PEN and Lumix cameras out there for beginners. Which offers lots of small, quality lenses for lower price tag. And M43 system goes strong. Any investment to M43 has more future not just in photography but also in videography.

But still, beginner better to begin from a big sensor point&shoot

Beginner! You need pasm modes to know what is what and how it goes!

If you just wanna snap and share your friend via instagram... stick to your smart phone and leave us alone in flickr :)

GM1 is the cherry of the cake, for sure. But it is hearth breaking to know GX80/85 doesn't have a mic input! Amd GX8 has 2.5mm !!!

My 150€ cell phone has a mic and headphone input!!!! Totally Hideous!

All those cameras are lacking pocketability or sharper lens (1.4 0r higher!) Why limiting... and not for cheap though
(Fuji X70 is a true alternative for a while... but not forever. Even LX7 lumix has sharper lens... stop talking about sensor size l, will you?)

Other than that.. Could this replace Canon 1D or Nikon D5 ? Really ?

Oh my God! Sony has its fanboys "like no other" :) ok guys hands down. Now keep calm and bring your cash to Sony.

Well, what is so pointless about that comment ? You can't use new tele + a9 combo handheld! And there are already fullframe mirror less Sony cams with highest burst rate called 60fps which is 4K video.

Also most sports event are held under wonderful light condition, where you don't need light sucking highest ISO camera... So ?

Pointless one is the camera. It is like a Ferrari. Fast capable etc. But max speed is limited on the traffic. You should stop your ferrari at red light too!

"Why not use phone?" is a good question actually. The answer is dedication. This A9 is dedicated on what ? Has no mirror yet huge with such lens!
And yeah my 149€ phone has a mic jack but GM1 hasn't!!! Even amazing built in IS Gx80/85 lacks it. Very hard to understand dumbass cam manufacturers.

Do you own one or ever used one, Ben?

I told that; I don't own one. I think its not a popular cam. brand (sells less than 5.000 cams globally per model) to support firmware.

Most likely, it's a good news for the ones who own one.

On article Alcatel Flash features front and rear dual-cams (10 comments in total)

Back in the day (2nd Millenia!!! Year 2000!!!) my first cell phone was an Alcatel one touch easy :) cute lovely phone, had many girlfriends but not so much money to call them... Texting was the thing... And internet was a luxury! It wasn't in your pocket. You have to sit front of it. And take it serious! Internet, was that then!

Anyway that Alcatel has the name. I wish it would be also alcately... Has huawei specs and price... But nane Alcatel, which was affordable... Nokias were expensive "for the son" in my family budget when I was 16 :)

Damn, those were the days. Viva Alcatel!

I don't make that comment to offend sigma. I respect them also my first lns was Art DN 30mm2.8 for my pen camera. And can't wait to own. F1.4 of that focal range.

But cameras of sigma... Not that popular, to support them by any firmware... I think.

You always buy & load your freezer. For the first time you'd know the day expire! You can have a great inventory based on that knowledge.

IT CAN REDUCE THE PRODUCT THAT TRASHED EVERYDAY AND SAVE MONEY AND LIVES.
