Can't believe all the negative comments. It's like the photographer is your enemy. Envy much?

Wow Thoughts R Us, how did you know I have an A7SIII and an A1! My A1 hasn't arrived yet but what I meant to say is that I know those kinds of features (cars autofocus) can be added via firmware and most Sony cameras have the CPU power required for that. I would love that feature (car autofocus) but certainly agree that, if possible, the issue with the focus breathing is really needed to be solved. Don't get me wrong, I love my Sony cameras and before deciding on the A1 I read a lot of reviews of the R5 vs the A1 and I'm convinced I did make the right decision. As I shoot both videos and photos I am really happy with Sony because they treat video shooting with the same passion as photos. Their software for editing videos is quite good.

Cerridwen: Brilliant! Pretty soon cameras will do everything for the inexperienced humans. Set it and forget it.

As a beginner with high-end cameras I agree 100% with you.

shellbeach: I had the A7SIII. I sold it and bought the Panasonic S5. I like the picture in video much better. And the advantages of the Af on the Sony didn't cancel out the disadvantages in stabilisation compared to the S5. I actually wanted to wait for the A7IV, but it won't have good stabilisation either because of the bajonett size. Catalyst wasn't much help either, because the crop is much too big.

Does your Panny S5 do SLOW MOTION better than the A7SIII? How about low light photos/videos?

Do you think this new A7IV will have better features and specs for taking videos than the A7SIII?

mikegt: Contrast-detect auto-focus which causes focus hunting. Slow sensor read-out which limits shutter speed to 3 fps and bad rolling shutter effects when using the electronic shutter or recording video. Heavier body and lenses compared to full-frame cameras. No obvious resolution advantage compared to the best FF cameras which are also in many cases lower in price. Maybe I'm just feeling negative today, but I just don't see a strong reason for most folks to even consider the GFX 50S II.

The GFX 100s which has 100 megapixels, good autofocus, 4K video, etc. just seems like a much better option if you want to get a true upgrade from the best of of what FF has to offer.

But wouldn't it be easier to stick with your FF lens collection and just buy a 50MP FF camera within the same ecosystem? I mean, given a 50MP FF vs this MF 50MP GFX50S II what would be the advantage of the MF camera?

If it isn't for the 100MP advantage of the GFX 100S, what would be the advantage of this 50MP over a FF camera like Canon R5 or Sony A7RIV?

Platinumkid: Honestly, I cannot see a difference between these and a gallery made with S1R, Z7II or similar.

Why would someone buy this 50MP camera if there are already FF with the same or even more MP? Wouldn't the REAL DIFFERENCE be obtained only with the 100MP GFX 100S?

sonic123: I wasn't born yet, but do anyone remember if HASSELBLAD made a lot of advertising because of being the maker of the camera that took the photo. Were the astronauts trained to take such important photos? Were those photos heavily processed in Earth. It's amazing to have such incredible crisp and wide images from back then!

Quite interesting info, thank you both for such great information!

Agree. One of the most impressive photos ever. And out-of-this-world one. :)

JeyB: My goodness. Incredible precision AF. I hope it to be a serious pre-production camera. DPreview should hire professional photographers to take the samples... It has always been clear their staff don't have any cue about that.

What a great photo! Where can I learn to take a photo such as these? Did you do a lot of post processing?
