645D: Under the DPR Lenses tab, there are "Hartblei“ and "Irix" brand, but why no "Zhongyi" or "Mitakon"?

Species published a preview for the 50 f0.95 once, but that was a year ago……… guess they didn't go through with it.

(unknown member): Ever heard about people buying Apple iPads, phones second-hand, then finding out the thing is locked and can't be unlocked except with the permission of the original owner? Do people really want cameras showing up on Ebay and in stores like this?

iPhone lockup is a anti-theft measure. What's discussed here is encryption. An encryption won't forbid you to continue use the camera, it simply won't allow you to view the data stored on storage(CF, SD) without correct pass code.

Lol almost all new universal standard has be contested with some competitor in the past.

Best just stay calm and let the flame dies out, in case you stand in with the wrong team.

The same way Swiss watch dose: by becoming " craftsmanship"

theprehistorian: The GFX 50S is pretty much the only announcement of any great interest. All in all I would say it was a pretty disappointing Photokina - no Nikon D820, no proper upgrade to the Ricoh GR (new version with the latest 24MP sensor please), nothing of any great interest from Canon, the Sigma 85/1.4 is no great surprise, seems expensive and is rather overdue. Wish Fuji would make a high quality 18mm (=28) F2 WR, that'd certainly cause me to invest more heavily in their system. Generally though, a bit of a yawn apart from the medium format Fuji.

GFX is the deep bomb, A99II is a confusing wild card, M5 is the Interesting diversion, EM1 and GH5 are somewhat predictable.

Old Cameras: I think it cheapens the brand of you slap it all over any old product. Leica is exclusive and stands for German quality and craftsmanship. These ideas are completely at odds with a disposable Chinese cell phone. (All phones are disposable)

Still cannot bend the law of aperature as well as the space in between lens groups………

Which is great on short focal length lens, but I doubt it's going to change much on longer focal length, since the lens barrel is mostly empty space.

Also the aperature is still going to be a physical limitation, so at best we will have lens shaped like disks. But in reality we would probably get lens that's a tint smaller, lighter, and is very fragile(just like our smartphones).

A welcome addition , ATM the market is almost monopolized by GoPro, so any challenger is welcome.

I, however, is more interested their DashCam and wither they will release a new one or not.

On article Benchmark Performance: Nikon D810 review (2005 comments in total)

As a Sony user I must admit Nikon, with it's excelling D7200 and D810, almost become my brand of Choice if not because of a7RII's timely arrivel to derive my mind at the last minute. Even then, if oneone with a vast interest into landscape/ doesn't want petty mirrorless/ has a desire to burn through their cash stash, D810 is still my No.1 recommendation.

(unknown member): At least its battery life like the d810 nikon is around 4x what a Sony A7r or Nex battery can manage and it is weatherproof . A Sony battery takes double the time in-camera the 810 nikon does in-charger, or the Canon and the pro machines do a 1000 plus shots per charge not 300 plus so as we chuckle at the suckera who waste their savings their hardearned cash on a machine that dies after an hour or so we should perhaps help them avoid such error.

The weight of 1dx mark II: 1530g
The weight of a7r II: 627g
The weight of that "puny 300 shot battery": 57g.
So, FYI, if we match the extra weight with spare battery, we could potentially hitting like, i dunno, 4800 shots?

This sounds like yellowpages and maps are being sued by banks because "they make robbing a bank a much easement, now criminals knows precisely where the banks are, and how to plot escape route."

On article Miggo wants to 'DSLR your iPhone' with the Pictar grip (133 comments in total)

Ok so here's the peoblem: The thing iphone lacks comparing with better camera are sensor and optic, not controls. I doubt if many people actually shoots RX100 besides AUTO or A. But the image quality is there, the focal length is there. But this grip? This grip barely does anything. QX series was on right track but iphone's connectivity is really lacking. Dxo 1 almost got it right but I wanders how many will it sell. This grip look nice, but I don't get which part of the function a simple grip case can't replace.

So the pricey FE 55 f1.8 is more likely to break than the cheaper FE 50 f1.8?

Technically, yeah. Like how fragile your smartphone is comparing with flip phones.

guatitamasluz: why didn't they make the 50 F/1.8 full time mf like the Canon cheapo 50 F/1.8 lens?

So that people can't adopt their lens on other systems…
Canon been doing it too, the 50 1.8 STM is focus by wire as well.

Geez why is there so many butthurt people taking jabs at something that they've never used, or never will?
It's a impressive medium format camera for god's sake. Not a thing for you to express your tasteless dad's joke.

HowaboutRAW: Why the lossy raws?

@abortabort Sony's lossy compression algorithm discard the part where the color variety in a small area didn't reach,so the difference is significant under high iso(due to great color variance) or on high contrast edge. However, when iso are minimal and no complex lighting are used, I would say it works just fine.

If that's true, then a6300 has more than 1000 af points… scary

Hum I thought in AF- C mode it's pure phase detection points?
