RP stands for...

I've seen "rest in peace" and "reduced power". Any other nominations?

If it is the cheapest is should be EOS CP. There is nothing reasonable about being the cheapest if you also lag in features.

Scottelly: I have to admit this was a smart move by Canon. This will make a lot of people want to buy one of these mirrorless bodies, because it's an upgrade from the 5D Mk II, 5D Mk III, 6D, and all the APS-C bodies. Giving away the adapter is smart too. Smart move Canon. You just better hurry up with a professional level mirrorless camera, and are you going to continue to support your DSLR lovers with a new DSLR body and a couple of new DSLR lenses, in order to make this a smoother transition?

liim, it's Canon and they have the cheapest FF (mirrorlesss or DSLR) with the least of specs. That is a huge gamble. Fighting on price is never a good practice, much less from the market leader. Wake up!! we are talking Canon not YONGNUE!! It would not be half as bad if they also had the best mirrorless FF, like in the case of the 1Dxii and the rebel series. But they don't.

That is Canon’s strategy. Mirrorless are not real cameras

On top of all that my F250 has EIGHT times the towing capacity of this Kia! No way will I be adding this Kia to my eight car garage and I sure wouldn't let my chauffeur drive my wife anywhere in it either. Kia should be ashamed for ripping off customers, Kia are doomed!"

Don’t get it wrong. Canon Is the Ferrari of the camera world. Would a Ferrari electric hatchback 🚗 that performs worse that any other electric car, get the heat?

Smart move? I think this camera is shouting “mirrorless cameras are toys, they are not real cameras”. All that potential wasted. It is a shame. This is the camera I needed 3 years ago, when I went to Sony. Is this supposed to try to bring me back? I don’t think they care. I think they are just trying to sabotage the mirrorless market. At the cost of burning their loyal DSLR base. If I can’t win, no one wins. You guys deserve more!

xsamie: This is the exact camera Sony needed to come out with. Here is why: The camera that is hurting Sony most is not the EOSR or the Z6, Z7. Not even fujifilm. The Sony killer is the Canon M50. Sony's vulnerability is price. Very little in the entry level.

Later they can come up with a a6700 for $1200 or a7000 for $1500, but first they need to address the M50.

It's my opinion

TW14, facts don't count sorry. Only opinions with no basis of people that don't shoot Sony will count, sorry. Non facts allowed also.

M50 is the number 1 seller in the mirrorless market worldwide. It's kill it world wide. Check the numbers.

I can see why. It's a great camera for anyone that is not a "photographer" which is a lot of people. A lot!

I have even thought of buying as a permanent camera at the studio, for social media content capture when I am not around. There really were no alternatives at that price range.

a6300/a6500/a6000 need a external monitor if operating alone. Not gonna happen with non committed shooters.

Sigma82: I don't get why buy this instead of an a6300 and save yourself some money. Or buy an a6500 and get yourself a better camera for the same money

focusing modes, tilt up screen. It's a good alternative to the a6500. Sony's IBIS is not GH5 leve anyways.

IBIS vs sub 1K?

Is IBIS worth $300 more? not sure

Awesome camera, great specs, great price. I will not be buying this camera. I will rather give my money to brands that I know will be innovative today and tomorrow. Pushing limits to the max. In 2017 this camera would have destroyed the market. We are entering 2019, how can we be sure new technology is around the corner? Will it take canon and Nikon another 4 years to catch up?

A better question would be : Who put more eggs in the basquet while developing the camera, Nikon with the Z7 or Sony with the A7RIII?

Besides the camera, why 1.8 and f4 lenses? That has me more puzzled. They could have ported some existing Nikon lens like Sigma has done with e mount

xsamie: For me it is about innovation and technology, not about mirrors, lenes, manufacturers... etc. Right now there is no camera that get's anywhere close in performance to the a9/400 2.8 and that is a great thing. The investment in future technology has paid off. By shaking up the market, Sony has also awakened the passion on many photographers and videographers world wide. Things like this launch remind me of why I love technology.

There is so much more to photography today than 10 years ago. Size of the camera, WiFi and IBIS are a huge factor. I for one, transfer to my phone right on site, to reviews them. Sometimes I even edit them and upload some to the gram. That is important today
