Another option: SMC Pentax-FA 645 150/2.8, either on 645Z body (with AF) or adapted to GFX (MF only) This is eq. to approx. 120/2.2 on FF, so closer to the "target" than any of the options above. M.

I had been using a range of Pentax 645 lenses adapted to a GFX50R body for some time, and then, after having had the opportunity to handle the 645Z in store, and having being offered a sweet deal ...

Fujifilm GFX50R + SMC Pentax-A 120/4 macro, hand-held at f/4. RAW file developed in DxO PhotoLab5 + FilmPack6, using "Eterna Bleach Bypass" film simulation preset. M.

In my own experience the Nikkor 20/2.8 was rather lacklustre in the corners even on apsc sensors. The 24 and 28 2.8 primes were better, but nothing to write home about. These are all film era wide ...

+1. I have the 120 macro, too, and that's been my experience as well.

Mostly agreed too. But, you can get technically excellent results when adapting lenses originally intended for a LARGER format. I use several Pentax 645 lenses, and most of them leave very little ...

To possibly replace the A* 300/4 in my bag. First impressions are as follows (vs. the 300/4 prime). Pros: - it's much lighter , and it does not need the Manfrotto long lens support rig that I was ...

I would. OTOH, the false colour can often be got rid of pretty well while converting the raw file. And the Fuji GFX cameras actually do a great job of hiding any moire' internally if producing ...

For me, that would be a downgrade. First, I dislike the PASM interface (vs. the more traditional dials). Also, the 50S II no longer has the ability to switch between "custom film simulation ...

GFX50R + P645 600/5.6 + 2x Raw developed in DxO Photolab 5

That is incorrect. I have the lens here with me and I can assure you it is 3m.

Min focus on the A* 645 300/4 is 3m. Optical quality is stellar, IMHO. Here are a few sooc-JPEGs:

when much cheaper tools would suffice ;-) Sorry, I couldn't resist :-D

Yep. I'd recommend them. It's a classic case of spend once and then forget about it and just get on with making pictures.

I use the A* 300/4 with the Manfrotto #293 support rig, which stabilizes the lens better than any simple collar could. I also modified it by swapping out the tilt head for an Arca Swiss compatible ...

Yes. This one: TrioPod PRO75 w/ 4-Section Carbon Fiber Legs (novoflex.de) Plus the half-ball levelling base and quick-release plate. M.

It's as stable as a rock. The only drawback is that the amount of tilt is very limited, having chosen to forego a tripod head altogether and just using the levelling base.

Novoflex Triopod. I have two of them. This is the lighter one. The other one is the "Pro 75" version. Both carbon fibre. Both excellent.
