If Nikon's 200-600 is anywhere near as good as Sony's (and I think it will be), I know many Nikon shooters will be thrilled. Personally I won't buy a Z9 or or any Nikon body without the 200-600Z ...

Can't believe I missed that -- thanks.

For most I think the Z9's EVF is just fine but for extreme action shooters 60hz is just not fast enough so the Z9 falls a little behind the others in this area.
-
Exactly. As time marches on, so do expectations. I'd also call the 4k imagery from my A1 as being soft, which being binned, it is in comparison to anything that's oversampled.
-
Or like many have done, just bite the bullet, sell everything and get the Sony A1, which I'd recommend pairing with the 200-600 for its excellent performance and versatility. Everything else being ...

I last corresponded with Thom mid-April. He was in Africa heading into a no-wifi zone at the time. He seemed pretty busy but was kind enough to reply to a question or two I had about the Z9.

No, I mean an well regarded professional wildlife shooter who isn't afraid to point out shortcomings of a popular lens that falls a tad short of optimum performance with modern mirrorless ...

Wow, there's a lot of "rationalization" taking place in this thread. For anyone paying attention with an open mind, Mark just provided a some very valuable info to anyone trying to decide between ...

Thanks, but clear image zoom has too many limitations for me... (1) Does not work for S&Q selection. (2) Does not work for 8K (3) Does not work at ...

No tripod -- it was shot from the car using a fluid head mounted on an Eckla car door mount. At 1200mm the original footage is actually pretty shaky so I stabilize in post. But even with a tripod, ...

Shooting video is more forgiving that stills, but this gives you an idea of what the 200-600+2xTC is capable of, even in less-than ideal conditions... A1+200-600+2xTC 1200mm @f16 80 metres, ...

What message? I see no message. I use the 3rd party batteries interchangeably with my OEM in the camera and chargers and the only difference is the 3rd party batteries don't last quite as long as ...

Very interesting -- I'll have to look into Topaz VEAI.

Nahhh... Sony's 200-600 is in a completely different league vs. the 200-500VR. Not even close.
-
Completely agree! The only reason I'm shooting Sony right now and not Canon is because of Sony's 200-600, and the only reason I've ordered a Z9 is the belief that 200-600 is coming, soon. If not, ...

I imagine the third party accessory suppliers will release an A/S compatible replacement foot once they get their hands on a lens to confirm the design. FWIW I really like Nikon's OEM feet with ...

If I get a Z9, I'd shoot 4k120p video in DX (2.3x) crop mode for 1840mm of crazy reach at a relatively fast @f6.3. The 1:1 pixel readout outputted as 10-bit 4:2:2 with on-centre sharpness without ...

Understood, thanks. Astropad (makers of Luna Display) said they haven't tested it with the Mac Studio yet, but see no reason why it shouldn't work. Looks like it might be an option.

Thanks for the report and suggestion. I see no need to buy the new mac studio monitor when I essentially already have one. I just need something temporary until the new 32" is available.
