On photo Electricity in pure plasma form in the Electricity challenge (1 comment in total)

Thanks for all your votes :-)

Did you know,...

You can actually “see” the mains supply frequency here!

These lamps run at 2-5kV & a high frequency of about 35KHz but you can clearly see the influence of
a 100Hz from the 50Hz mains supply.
Just look at the thick bright line that seems to shoot through the glass,
it is actually made up from 7 thin lines all close together.

Now My photo was shot at 1/15s which is about 70ms, and so each line took 10ms
and that is equivalent to the 100Hz.

Fascinating to watch the coloured plasma lines move around inside these globes!

This one is funny!
It sort of takes you by surprise; at first you see just a fairly normal Christmas tree ball , then...
*That Look !*
Great.
Well done!

On photo Your Knowledge - Choose wisely! in the Knowledge challenge (1 comment in total)

Thanks to those who voted!
It is somehow interesting that this photo was judged & placed exactly in position *42* !!

Douglas Adams showed everybody a few years back that the answer to
"Life, The universe and Everything" was "*42*"

So just maybe, the answer to that big question is also in one of these books??
I guess you can decide for yourself which knowledge source you take for your references.

Happy searching !
