MirrorLessHater: the crippled, stipped down and uncapable Canon RP didn't help, color me shocked.

Feel free to use it Hautedawg. It is completely open source. Glad you liked it. :)

Joseph K Boston: Who would have thought making outdated, boring products nobody wants is a bad business strategy?

The market isn't dying. It is changing. New technology is pushing products for this market to solve consumer needs in ways that werent available before. For instance, Sony has shown everybody the potential of what AI evaluative machine learning software can do for AF. The market is far from dying. Shrinking maybe, sure. But it is being reshuffled before our eyes and some of the older companies are reacting too slowly.

Lightroom is my color science.

If you have facts on your side, argue the facts. If you have technology on your side, argue technology. If you have neither...argue color science.

ttran88: Mirrorless is just a fad, Canon and Nikon will want a piece of the action to milk their user base. An adapter to work with their current lenses is almost a certainty. But they will cripple it’s function and force their faithfuls to open up their wallets and buy the native lenses. Get ready to spend big bucks!!

Canon 7D announced Sept 2009
Canon 7D II announced Sept 2014 (6 years later)
Mediocre upgrade that took them over half a decade due to end of development product cycle, lack of desire to innovate due to perceived market superiority, and no desire to actually improve its product for its user base.

Sony NEX 7- Nov 2011
Sony A9- April 2017
In just about the same amount of time that Canon went from Mk. I to Mk II on one of its popular cameras Sony innovated the heck out of mirrorless tech and went from ground breaking small apsc mirrorless to full frame, DSLR stomping sports monster camera. THAT is innovation.

Canon and Nikon are now scrambling to bring a pro mirrorless to market. That fact alone proves that they should have known this years ago. Mirrorless tech is the future. You dont have to agree, but I look forward to this conversation in just 5 years time. The pro camera market will be completely different then. Tech marches on. Those who innovate win.

Ok, Mr R Adams comment replaces the silliest comment today. Cannot deliver superior photos? Why do they have to be superior? That was never in the design brief. DSLR's and Mirrorless can provide equal quality photographs, totally dependent on the skill of the photographer. And the size thing is just silly. Mirrorless isnt just about being smaller, it is about emerging technologies. And the ability for those technologies to far surpass what they replace. The mirror box is at the end of its life. On sensor readout AF and EVF are new tech with decades of development ahead of them. For instance, 20fps on the a9 is pretty impressive. Canon and Nikon havent been able to get past, what, 14? At that is with decades of R&D behind the SLR. Not counting WYSIWYG evf and silent shooting. Big mirrorless cameras will come out, so big telephotos dont look 'silly' on them, which bothers some people. So whats the point? Building systems that arent at the end of their development cycle. Tech, not size.

"Mirrorless is just a fad..." Literally the silliest thing I have read on the internet all day. And I've spent a lot of time today looking at dumb meme's.
