xsamie: Honestly, I don't remember a camera getting such a hard beating by the critics as the Sony a9... and surviving it. Banding claims, rectified. Overheating claims, exaggerated/ corrected. Poor dynamic range claims, vanished. Lack os sharpness claims, rectified. Poor ergonomics claims, pinky extender. Lack of lenses claim, works ok with converters. No slog claims, best sony color chemistry for video. Poor Buffer claims, non existent.

Wow, do you guys remember any other camera shutting up critics this much?

I think Sony and the a9 deserver a break and a thumbs up. This is very good news for shooters of all brands. Exiting times are ahead for photography.

Do you guys remember something like this ever happening before?

I don´t think is about the camera, but about the company. When you create so much antecipation and make such bold claims, you are in for bashing.
Personaly, i wouldn´t buy a sony again. I bought a a7, the original, when sony said it was the best camera in the world. The future. The one and only ... glad i didn´t loose much money when i sold it. With sony, there is always a catch.
Yes.. mirroless might be the future. But in the presente, my d750 is perfect for what I need.
It´s like american gods. The old gods vs the new gods. In the book, i know how it ends :P

ASR45: D500 the beast of 2016. Nothing gets close, well done to Nikon.

Not by a long margin ...

RanL: A very nice review. Would have been nicer if it said something about the (alleged) flare-blockage / internal reflections / "black bandit" issue that's been so extensively debated on the forums (here and elsewhere) lately. It would have been nice to get a word on this from an authoritative and reliable source.
Right now that (possible) issue is the only thing holding me back from ordering this camera (I find myself shooting backlit scenes quite often).

Dude.. did you read the topic? Did you see my post? The fact that you can´t replicate doen´t indicate the problem doesn´t exist. I use nikon for 12 years. You comment is the one trolling those photographers who demand real assistence from the company they trust.

To replicate, you gotta heve the lightsource in a especifc angle with the sensor. It happens with any lens and the flare has a "blocked" caracter. Is not continous like normal lens flare.
