but EVIL never caught on with the manufacturers for some reason :-D

Depends on the store. I've purchased two "Bargain" grade cameras from KEH and was happy with both. The first was fine, just had some worn paint and loose buttons. The second one had a broken mode ...

Could only find it in video format unfortunately, but here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IS3Mkaie8Ic&t=353s Plans might be a bit optimistic, since they are talking about a prototype here, but ...

If you weren't aware I believe Pentax has plans to produce a monochrome version of their K3-III. I'm sure production will be quite limited but should be a lot more affordable than Leica.

As a seller of the cameras and not film that might still work out OK :-)

You can't go wrong with any of those. But for what its worth the Pentax K1 has a lot of niceties for landscape/tripod work. I own one and some of my favorite features: (1) Built in GPS (2) T ...

I'm less tied to the shape of the body but a similar size would be nice. I'd want it with a 35mm sensor to use with old lenses. I disagree about mirrorless though. The real magic of the MX is the ...

I have a Pentax *ist DS getting pretty close to the 20 year mark that I still use occasionally (released mid 2004). The only thing I have had to do for dealing with failures so far is spray ...

With the DSLRs I own (Pentax) I would say they can go several months with the switch set to "On" but in sleep mode. I have a couple of bodies I use rarely and leave them with the switch set to On. ...

Oh no, I don't like to exhibit my closet. Too messy.

I think that might have to do with supply chain difficulties. In my day job some vendors we purchase from have "new" telecom routers coming out that are basically the same as the old ones with...

I think that versatility is partly why the purple fringing is an issue. I find myself using the lens in a lot of situations that aren't macro. I bought the current 100mm WR not too long before the ...

I actually just made this decision a couple weeks ago and picked up 2x 2TB of SATA SSD when I spotted a good deal. My primary motivator was noise as the HDD is one of the loudest components of my ...

The fact you can't switch the sensor remains true of raw files too. Most cameras let you change the look of the JPEG produced pretty drastically in-camera using either color/contrast controls or a ...

The Pentax MX is a pretty fantastic little manual camera.

Generally. But more is nice sometimes. In the situations I'm wanting more I'm not sure there is an upper limit.

Not because 16MP is what I need for resolution (I'd be fine with less), but because the 16MP Sony APS-C sensors used in cameras like the Nikon D7000 and Pentax K5(II) were fantastic all around ...

They aren't cheap but I recently picked up an SMC-A 28mm f/2 that I love. Otherwise you can't go wrong with the various 50mm f/1.4 or f/1.7 primes (don't bother with the f/2 though).
