PatrickP's current gear

Nikon D750
Sony a7R II
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm F4G ED VR
Great camera. Almost the perfect balance between MP, fps, AF and size/weight. But the D810 is still a wee bit better, a good part of it the pro control layout.
Given the current length and weight, might as well just make it f/2.8 and throw in a few more piece of glass to correct the distortion on the wide end...
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm F4G ED VR
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm F1.8G ED
performs at 80-85% of the 2.8 version, and gives you the extra 70-120mm zoom range. fair enough.
Close to perfection. Would love a 24-85/2.8 VR for the next update.
Very decent lens for the money. Super duper sharp in the center and decent enough on the edges. Slowly replacing my 24-70/2.8....
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm F4G ED VR
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR
The focal length breathing at MFD (200mm marking is actually 135mm only) always led me to the "what on earth were they thinking???" question. A ridiculous sharp and sweet lens otherwise.
Nikon was 6 years behind canon on this lens. Great lens nevertheless. I would wish the f/2.8 version behaves exactly like this one.
As good as it gets. Performs well on the D8x0 36mp sensor even wide open on the long end. The clarity at 400mm is just super.
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm F1.8G
Sony FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS
Sony FE 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 G OSS
the price/performance ratio of this beast put all other Nikon lenses to shame...
Sony Vario-Tessar T* FE 16-35mm F4 ZA OSS

Other gear:
  • Nikon AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm f/2.8G VR Patent already filed by Nikon. The expected true successor to the 17-35/2.8.
  • Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G VR I don't mind the 24-70 going heavier and bigger for having VR
