Is there a way to scan my unrooted Android phone and tell me statistics about focal lengths of my photos? Just want to know what phone lens gives me more keepers. Hope there is an app for that.

Got it, it depends on the sensor. Explains why only a bunch of Xiaomi phones from 2020-2021 support it. Thanks, this really helps.

I'm experienced gcam user, and now is time to shop for another gcam enabled phone. So I watched a few videos, read a few reviews. Noticed that gcam can sometimes output 24-27MP images binned from ...

Yes and no. I saw similar articles using almost identical wording. Here is my confusion. First it says that it's up to the seller to organize the VAT charges: "Post-Brexit VAT reforms dictate that ...

Planning to buy something from an online shop in Germany and get it shipped to the UK (~50 EUR including VAT, ~20EUR shipping. What is the current situation with the import taxes in the UK: (1) Do I ...

Storage is cheap, don't care about it. However it now takes about 20-40min to AI denoise one 44MP RAW on my relatively fast yet SMALL PC. Used to be 1 min before the AI. denoise though. Upgrading ...

Finally figured it out. KISS principle rules!!! Just got one of those "Eureka" moments. :) A quick glance at DPR Image Comparison Studio reveals that even at ISO6400 A7RIII resolves slightly more ...

Thank you for the lovely debate, you really help me to get a better understanding of the matter and I am learning as we speak. 🤦🏻♂️😂 Yep, I am not convinced that this artificial metrics with ...

No, no, no. Here is my thoughts process. 😂 My 44Mp images at ISO6400 obviously lose details compared to, say, ISO 100. Plus I lose more details after denoising. So how many meaningful pixels is ...

How? :) Just trying to understand if I really need 44Mp sensor, PP in Lightroom started to take way too long with their latest AI denoising. So I am considering to downgrade to A7III with 24Mp ...

Is there a SW tool there that can scan a photo and advise to how many mega-pixels to scale down while keeping all the details intact? Most of my photos are taken with A7R3 at 4000 ISO or higher in ...

@Roland Karlsson "Just waiting for Pentax to ..." - I've been hearing this for more than a DECADE already from Pentaxians. The list isn't exclusively restricted to AF, though it's always in the...

@greg kozlik While the DR and resolution "improvements" can be measured in the lab, they are too marginal to have a practical implications. Diminishing returns. As opposed to different BW...

@tmy Sure, minor updates for product lines are always welcome from any manufacturer, not only Pentax. And there will be plenty of happy users buying these products. However, considering the lack...

The Pentax way of making new products: 1. Take a cheap and outdated lens SMC FA-50/1.4 with lethargic and not so accurate AF 2. Print the word "Classic" on the side of the lens 3. Use...

@Xpan digital Do you have the GR? Have you tried its DIFFERENT b&w modes? You didn't like any of them? That's uncommon.
-
Just use the Carry Speed Magfilter 52mm adapter, it worked great with my GR mk1, should work with later models as well. It's tiny and super light, so no downsides.
-
Any reason for you not to be able to use one of the brilliant B&W emulation modes on existing GR models with traditional color sensors?
-
@AndreasOberg I guess what you are saying is that the majority of users of this camera will not find any practical benefits of the monochrome sensor over color sensors. That's my impression too....

@AndreasOberg My original question was about the practicality of the "lab measured" improved sharpness or low light sensitivity for real-life photos. In the original question I ask to show any of...
