(unknown member): I missed the part about 5K with the Ninja V.
It was already 4096 pixel wide video before.
Do we know the 5K dimensions? And is it too over sampled from 8K?

Having the ability to crop and keep the full 4K resolution is a big plus.

Very curious as well, esp since in 60-120p the R5 pixel bins so if this is a supersampled 5k from 8k i'm very interested.

For the price you could "grab" a +4k camera, possibly a 8k camera, so does the camera not deliver sufficient horizontal resolution for the vast amount of applications? So there is really no need for this lens???

Its not about the resolution, all about the rendering for anamorphic lenses imo

madeinlisboa: Only 8000??? Buying two...

well the next cheapest full frame ana w/ 1.5+ squeeze is newcomer xelmus at $12k/each and then cooke's at $35k/each....

CaPi: Who will actually buy this product?

I did. These are budget lenses - cheapest full frame anamorphics in the world w/ an actual squeeze. But clearly not targeted to the average consumer. The next cheapest are xelmus, an even newer, unproven Ukrainian company, which cost $12k usd/each. After that is the cooke's at $34.6k usd/each.

4sofnature: Look forward to Sirui cutting that price in quarter.

but they will be 1.33x. the S35 ones are great lenses and i do plan to buy the FF ones when they finally come, but they def don't compete w/ 1.8-2x ana lenses

ProfHankD: "The 1.8x squeeze can producee a cinematic widescreen 2.39:1 aspect when paired up with 4:3 sensors."

Huh? None of the cameras mentioned above does 4:3; it's not a standard video format for full-frame cameras as far as I know. For that matter, is 1.8X really a standard compression for anything? I suppose that if you use their 50-85-135 you don't can about it being a somewhat unusual compression ratio...?

regardless of what the camera offers, alto of people desqueeze and crop as needed in post anyway. for example no sony under the fx9 even offers in camera desqueeze.

Aloha Jo: I don’t get this.

Anamorph. 4K
(3328 x 2496)

How is 3328 pixel wide video 4K? I love a camera that shoots anamorphic video though.

because you have to desqueeze for ana so you need a 3:2 or 4;3 or 6:5 ratio

Retzius: Looks great! I think its time to drop the "pocket" branding from the lineup though.

the p6k pro balances more than fine on my rs2, unless its not a "real" video camera

I think CFE type B will be here to stay and quickly cheapen. the decision to use CFE type A is strange to me. but then again, sony did pick alot of random media in the past that all didn't pan out. but i do love how the slots are backwards compatibel, definetly a nice feature. Cfast I can imaigne sticking on for a bit due to the cheaper cinema cmaeras (pockets, zcams, komodo), but hard to imaigne the next generation wont be CFE type B....

Stunning and lovely photos. I love them. I'm certainty not saying I can do better, i definetly can't. But "unique" I disagree - looks like just another day on 500px (or at least, back when i last looked there a few years ago)

Their statement makes me think the rumors have alot more basis now. I don't think it "quiets" anything at all. This is exactly what i'd expect them to say if recalls or hardware updates were being considered.

dr.noise: Isn't HDMI output raw already?

nope. they took ages to work with atomos to amke it happen. meanwhile nikon and zcam all got it done much more quickly w/ atomos.

Suddenly seems so lackluster after seeing some of the 4k HQ come out of the r5 (albeit the obvious overheating issues), B&H's leaked review of the a7siii, and the amazing AF on both. But that IBIS and v-log mmm mmmm
