I just read the K1 review of a major German institution, reviewing electronics, cameras, computers. According the their review, the K1`s AF-C capabilities- both speed and tracking accuracy, is only...

  • Commented on article Special K? Pentax K-1 Review

Well, regarding AF accuracy I was told that the AF of the K3II were, thanks to a new algorythm, maybe a wee bit slower than the AF of competitors like Nikon`s D7200 or Canon 7D, but around 20% more...

  • Commented on article Special K? Pentax K-1 Review

I`ve been a working pro for 10 years now, I know how to handle gear. It was normal work use, under conditions the gear is explicitely marketed for: Intense but normal use under normal central...

But I see, it seems to be not allowed and cause aggressions when someone dares to share an experience that is not in line with the common perception. So, ok, here comes the revised version of what...

  • Commented on article Special K? Pentax K-1 Review

Where the situations were equal was the subject- surfers. The K3 AF was set up together with a rep from RICOH Pentax, and still the hit rate on the moving subjetcs (AF-C) was around 20% only, and...

@professor999: I`m well aware of the differences. We have a good relation to the Pentax repair service, and they explained (after the incident) that even they find that the sealing works fine...

  • Commented on article Special K? Pentax K-1 Review

Absolutely not. I`m not harming anyone, I merely share our experiences. And you get one thing absolutely wrong. I`m not complaining about the fact that on our copies of cameras and lenses was not...

  • Commented on article Special K? Pentax K-1 Review

Regarding the AF-C, it doesn`t need a D5 to do what we wanted to do, because repeating the shoot with the surfers later by using an Oly EM-1 and a Pana GX8 showed totally different results- both AF...

  • Commented on article Special K? Pentax K-1 Review

Regarding the lenses, the repair service said that were quite normal. Lenses are not as "sealed" as the bodies. Humidity can break in relatively easy when shooting in the rain. As soon as the sun...

  • Commented on article Special K? Pentax K-1 Review

Thanks for the reminder, it`s already been removed from our website. It was a 4 hour shoot on a warm day, with heavy rain showers during that shoot. Of course no flaps were opened. The Pentax...

So openly speaking, my experiences with the K3`s AF expecially with even very slow moving subjects is exactly the same what dpreview found on the K1. Also the consistency in AF-S and DA SDM* lenses...

  • Commented on article Special K? Pentax K-1 Review

Looking forward to rent & try the K1 soon. I honestly like Pentax. I love the ergonomics, features, IQ of the APS-C & the 645. Still, we sold our K3s we had in our company for reportage work....

  • Emperor`s new clothes.... I could not have said this any better- exactly what I think. When it comes to comparing the Phase One system to Pentax 645 - although I really really like Pentax for their...

  • It always comes down to using the right tool for the job. Not all tools are equal, and for some jobs some specific tools are simply better suited than others. I can only say, that I`m currently...

  • @NAwlins Contrarian I fully understand what you mean, and still, with all due respect, I can simply not agree. I started shooting digital medium format in 2007. My first medium format cam was a 22...

  • Sorry- have you ever tried the A7R II or the D810 against a 645Z or a Phase One IQ 250 in real life? There is a huge difference which is easily visible in larger prints. The IQ of the D800 was not...

  • I don`t consider the 645Z being huge, just normal size for medium format. The X1D may be smaller, yes, but there are other shortcomings that come with the X1D which make me think if that camera is...

  • For sure you get a Pentax 645 Z for these prices, but Pentax is a system without any leaf shutter lenses, and the existing lenses are not flawless in terms of IQ- only some of the lenses keep up...

  • Commented on article Hands-on with Hasselblad X1D

Marko2, I get your point, but even larger cams like the Phase One 645 DF+, the XF, or our Mamiya RZ 67 Pro IID we take into the field, for on location industrial, corporate image and advertising...

  • Commented on article Hands-on with Hasselblad X1D

I use medium format (Phase One is my system) 90% for on-location industrial photography on the major construction sites on 4 continents, and architecture / interior design photography, 90% ambient...
