  • Yes, ALPA is in business, better than ever. They offer, in cooperation with Phase One, the Phase One A-Series camera. Other than that they make a fine range of technical view cameras. ALPA is a...

  • Sorry, but this is not true. According to the experts from Swiss camera maker ALPA, distortion correction via software leeds to no visible loss of sharpness if the lens`resolution is high enough....

  • When I want to take pictures of people in public places, let`s say in public parks, on crowded markets, or on places where people spend their free time, they don`t always react friendly- depending...

  • I would never call any of them superior to the other- it`s totally up to your style of camera use, which camera is better than the other. As I said before: If it`s quality that I want, I use my...

  • Electronic shutter is not always an issue, so I`d say testing before guessing. The AF performance looks extremely good and capable to my eyes. I mean, I covered the Swiss Motocross Championships...

  • Well said. It`s up to personal taste and budget. 80% of my daily work I do with Phase One IQ250 on an XF, or a RZ67 or mostly on a technical view camera. Still, those rare situations when I do...

  • Oh really? Wrong. The D500 is an amazing camera for sure. It`s limited to 10fps and doesn`t have the same enormous speed and performance of the Oly. It`s UHD video is around 120 Mb/s, so 50% of the...

  • I don`t understand all those complaints, for example, regarding sensor size. Sure you can increase it- and then you will hear people complaining "what a bad camera, now it`s not as small as a MFT...

  • Just a few remarks after having played with the X1D on Photokina last Thursday. The camera is a beauty. But ergonomics / touch & feel were not so great, at least not for my hands- but this is a...

  • Don`t connect the term "medium format" to a specific hardware format. If that were correct, than "full format" (as it is called in German, meaning full frame) were larger than "medium format"....

I just read the K1 review of a major German institution, reviewing electronics, cameras, computers. According the their review, the K1`s AF-C capabilities- both speed and tracking accuracy, is only...

  • Commented on article Special K? Pentax K-1 Review

Well, regarding AF accuracy I was told that the AF of the K3II were, thanks to a new algorythm, maybe a wee bit slower than the AF of competitors like Nikon`s D7200 or Canon 7D, but around 20% more...

I`ve been a working pro for 10 years now, I know how to handle gear. It was normal work use, under conditions the gear is explicitely marketed for: Intense but normal use under normal central...

But I see, it seems to be not allowed and cause aggressions when someone dares to share an experience that is not in line with the common perception. So, ok, here comes the revised version of what...

Where the situations were equal was the subject- surfers. The K3 AF was set up together with a rep from RICOH Pentax, and still the hit rate on the moving subjetcs (AF-C) was around 20% only, and...

@professor999: I`m well aware of the differences. We have a good relation to the Pentax repair service, and they explained (after the incident) that even they find that the sealing works fine...

Absolutely not. I`m not harming anyone, I merely share our experiences. And you get one thing absolutely wrong. I`m not complaining about the fact that on our copies of cameras and lenses was not...

  • Commented on article Special K? Pentax K-1 Review

Regarding the AF-C, it doesn`t need a D5 to do what we wanted to do, because repeating the shoot with the surfers later by using an Oly EM-1 and a Pana GX8 showed totally different results- both AF...

Regarding the lenses, the repair service said that were quite normal. Lenses are not as "sealed" as the bodies. Humidity can break in relatively easy when shooting in the rain. As soon as the sun...

  • Commented on article Special K? Pentax K-1 Review

Thanks for the reminder, it`s already been removed from our website. It was a 4 hour shoot on a warm day, with heavy rain showers during that shoot. Of course no flaps were opened. The Pentax...
