  • I generally hike with a 100-400, 16-35 f4, 24-105 STM (all EF) and I rarely ever switch to the 24-105 these days except if I want to get a sunstar shot with the sun shining through the leaf canopy ...
  • Thanks for the clarification. With the heat of the units, I am suprised there hasn't been a recall or similar about the dangers of potential burns. Or at least warning on the cards themselves. ...
  • That is fascinating data. I found this chart on your review of the 512gB Lexar card. I have not tried to move any video from my my card as you showed but I have some questions about your testing ...
  • I have been using the Lexar Professional 128gb CF Express units without issue.
  • Thanks for your input, I will play with your settings. I am noticing that ISO 1600 with no NR color removable, the R5 CRaw is very noisy in shadows. Would anyone care to share the default settings?
  • Created discussion thread Lightroom Sharpness and NR for R5
For those of you using the Lightroom for post processing R5 images (No DPP or other post software first), how much sharpness are you pushing when the camera is on standard clarity settings? What ...
  • I know. People actually think I am joking or just trying to be different but for me it was a truly wonderful tool. I learned to use it by keeping the 1 second press to unlock feature on it so ...
  • I have not tried any extenders on the R5 yet. I wasn't aware of the loss of focus points. What would you assume the loss of focus area would be in an approximate %? That might be telling. For mine, ...
  • OP, I had the same internal discussion with myself a few months ago. I decided to go with the R5 after debating the R6, the R5 or waiting for the R3. The only thing in hindsight that I miss from ...
  • Yes, the 70-200 IS mk2 and 100-400 mk2 both work flawlessly on the R5. I've not used the RF equivalents yet but if they are an improvement on the EF versions, they must be absolutely stellar.

  • If you get the USB - C to USB - C cable that comes with the camera, you can download directly to PC without the need of a card reader. You will need USB-C port or USB-C to USB A adapter. I haven't ...
  • I could also make use of multiple crops. I have found the crop mode to be wonderful for giving me extended reach of the Eye AF function. With no crop, there is a distance where Eye AF reverts to ...

  • It is one thing to have an acceptable crop for online use. It is another if you wish to print. I enjoy the resolution of the R5. It offer a lot more flexibility than the R6's output. And the R's ...
  • Replied in R5 not sharp
Looks like user induced shake to me. Also, exposure on the two shots is far off. (1) Do a test with minimal variables. Control what you can. (2) Us ...
  • Effective 640mm is achieved. I made no mention whatsoever about the maximum subject quality. You decided incorrectly that I assumed that. As you rushed to be semantically correct you might have ...
