RMGoodLight: Sorry to say this but I find this writeup rather disapointing for a review site like DPR. I could write the same without handling any of those two cameras only by looking at the spec sheet and product images.

I would excpect that you handle both cameras to one of your writers and he/she should take both outside and shoot similair images / videos with it. And then write this kind of comparison with side by side images from both cameras. With images where both cameras are put side by side so one can see how big or small they are and how well they handle different situations.

I expect a little more commitment.

You can do it with every new camea or lens coming to store. "It's very sharp in the centre, less so in the corners." Sounds familiar?Or "the IO is excellent at base ISO but gets worse if you crank up sensitivity." We all could write this without seeing a product!!! What do you expect? I know, pictures and more pictures, but I don't think there's new "unimageable" product coming soon to you...

zodiacfml: All I need to know is the price. This is out of budget. I expect a price around $100 more than their DSLR with similar specs.
Why is this competing with an RX100 V besides the price?

It has bigger sensor, different leaugue then Sony. That's why the price.

daddyo: "Just in. In other critical news, desert residents near Area 51 in Nevada have reported seeing aliens using the new Yashica camera. Government sources have remained mum about these reports, except to say, 'There have been a couple spurious claims regarding small children playing with the Yashica in a few desert locations.'
Stay tuned for further developments."

I am sure you have 2 small green antenas growing from your head!

Let the film SLRs die with dignity and peacefully. Shoot one or the other it's so easy and don't mix dogs and cats!

fmaxwell: You might as well get an iPhone SE. The sensor size is almost identical. It's 12MP vs. 14MP. The lens is the same focal length but faster (f2.2 vs. f2.8). Unlike the Y35, the iPhone SE does macro, image stabilization (digital), panorama, HDR, and video up to 4K.

The iPhone SE has a much faster maximum shutter speed (1/8000s vs 1/500s) and a much wider range of ISO sensitivities (25-2000 vs. the Y35 with 200 & 1600 color and 400 B&W).

With the iPhone, you also get GPS, WiFi, and rechargeable LiIon batteries.

You'll have more fun with Yashiica!!!
