Rodger in Edmonton: IMHO a good macro lens should be much sharper , especially at F 5.6. A 1: 1 image of a coin or other standardized object can be a more effective test. This lens should show the fibers of the baseball stitching like ropes - let's see them. IMHO one cannot make an informed judgement w/o more 1: 1 shots. Give me a silver dollar coin at 1 : 1 with no sharpening , IHBME that 100L shots do not require added sharpening.

I agree. I have the Sigma 70 DN Macro for L Mount and the Images out of my Leica SL2 with that lens are much sharper than the samples here.

I would surmise that with the decline is actual camera sales as a whole, Nikon is leaving money on the table by allowing others to repair their cameras. Service can be a lucrative business if you can execute with quality.

I think this is a way for Nikon to fill in some of the declining revenues, while taking more control over their channels for sales and service.

Yeah, because the prices weren’t obscenely high enough! Utterly ridiculous....Leica has become irrelevant with the performance of it’s competitors for the price.

David V: Honestly, these were disappointing samples, IMO. I think Sony is making the most impressive bodies out there, but their lenses do little to exploit that goodness.

I have been itching to pull the trigger on an A7II to add a FF mirrorless camera to my lineup but I think I will stick with just my Fuji X-System cameras/lenses for now.

I am interested to see what Sony does to follow up to the RX1R, which is a fantastic camera.

That's fine stevo. I know what I like and I don't care what you think about my opinion.

@radissimo....Not when I mention that I have owned two NEX bodies and wanted to buy an A7II. This is all subjective and just my opinion. No need to get worked up over it.

@RichRMA....I disagree. The Zeiss FE zoom is pretty unimpressive based on the images I've seen. The Fuji 16-50/2.8 looks to be a much better performer to my eyes. Also the Fuji 23 and 35/1.4 are as good if not better than the FE35. Even online reviews at Photozone seem to confirm that. The FE 55/1.8 is nice, but the Fuji 56/1.2 is a real gem and is better IMO.

If the Sony lenses work for you, it's all good, but I just don't think they do their excellent bodies any real justice. This is not a Fuji fanboy statement. I actually wanted to buy an A7II and have owned two NEX cameras in the past. In fact, I may still buy an RX1R or it's successor.

Rod McD: Can we download a camera straight into it or does it need another accessory? And does it take jpegs without compressing them further? And does it take RAW files at all? And why can't somebody make a small tablet & OS with full USB and file management functionality?

Problem is that many of the more capable Windows 8 tablets are as thick as some Ultra Books and cost as much as a full featured laptop. At that point, you might as well buy an Ultrabook or Macbook Air.

I would not be surprised if this camera were contracted out to another manufacturer altogether (including lenses). A quick and lucrative way for Leica to drop a red dot on them and charge the faithful an exorbitant amount of cash, believing that they are getting Leica quality in a smaller, "more affordable" package.

The lenses look like Panasonic m4/3 lenses and are "consumer grade" slow. The sample images that were posted here are overwhelmingly ordinary. I'll keep my Fuji X gear, thank you.
