CameraLabTester: Take out the reflex mirror.

That will surely make Canon take the front seat again.

But wait!

Mediocrity lurks in the Canon halls...

Shhhh.... Listen....

.

Yeah, that's been my question every time someone requests them to take the mirror out, that they have already? Isn't one of the points of mirrorless to be smaller and more convenient? Then why do that to a massive DSLR body. . .

Yossarian1: Not that much really needed to bring this camera forward:

10 FPS is probably fast enough for most applications but I wouldn't be surprised if this is increased to 12 FPS.

A bigger buffer size and faster writing speeds would be useful although some of the buffer sizes are now overkill.

AF can be incrementally improved - its pretty good already.

Improved DR at base and tweaks at higher ISOs.

4K if you must.

Flippy touch screen (like the 80D and 6DMkII).

I wonder what the percentage of people that but Canon cameras require 100 RAW images in the buffer? Presumably they researched it, decided it wasn't worth the effort and compromised to add some other feature you probably love.

PhotoRotterdam: Whatever Canon will do with the successor of the 7D, it will be insufficient for DPReview readers.

Difficult to please everybody hey :/ If they concentrate solely on the Video then the people that couldn't be bothered with video will tear the still quality to shreds, saying if only they hadn't concentrated on the video.

Someone always seems to be angry at what they include/exclude, makes you wonder why they do it? Probably the enormous profit they make and their market share. . .

Bilbo_bobbins: Canon should stop this range. Focus on Mirrorless from now on. I've gone to Fuji from FF and not looking back, mainly because of the lack of innovation from Canon. They are going to lose out big time if it's not soon.

Why should they focus on mirrorless? Is it because that's what you use? Or what you believe to be the way forward?

3DSimmon: They should just re-badge the Samsung NX1, that would keep them in the aps-c game.

Based on?

tkbslc: I would say it has to have 4K to compete, but I would have said the same about the 6D II.

Ah, now that makes sense. Glad you enjoy your camera mate. Just wondering why you find it necessary to point out that the d500 is a better camera in every way? (please don't reply with "because it is") Not sure which camera specifically you are comparing it to as I reread the comments and it doesn't appear to be clear? Are you comparing it to a camera that hasn't come out yet? Based on unconfirmed rumors that are 3-6 months away from being confirmed? Some clarity to your comparison please

ZeBebito: That 7Diii one year before release looks already obsolete.

Because we know what is gonna be in it right?

If it includes 4k it will be the wrong codec, or the wrong frame rate, or the wrong kind of 4k, or it should be at least 8k because other brands offered 4k 3 years ago already

Andreas Berglund: Better AF, Better DR, bigger buffer is on the top of my list, but a tiltable touch screen would be great as well.

More Dynamic Range is WAY more important than more Mega Pixels!!!!!

And if Canon is listening, please use high speed cards, two of the same type not two different ones, so either two C-fast or two SD II cards either will be fine as long as it can handle clearing the buffer fast.

Ah, thank you, I stand corrected. This is what happens when you half read something

KubeKube: Mark I used to be a very capable tool in 2009. Mark III in 2018? Much less so.

I agree, I think the 5D Mark V is gonna be a piece of crap and will be years behind the competitors even before it comes out. . . .

Don't even get me started on how bad the 1Dx Mark VII will be, sheesh

Then go buy a D500? If Canon no longer fulfills your wants and needs then change? Canon aren't stupid, if they see the need to add it, they will, if they don't and your life depends on having a camera that can take 4k videos and great still images then jump across to the brand that offers it.

Isn't it due to some regulation stating that a shutter speed longer than 30s is seen as a video camera in europe or some thing like that?

TwoMetreBill: If it is not mirrorless and superior to the Fuji X-T2, it is DOA.

Not really sure why it would be mirrorless? Surely you would then go for their mirrorless range of cameras?
