That sounds pretty close to my plan. 18-135 for general use. I've got the manual focus Samyang 12/2 for occasional astro and wide landscapes. I don't have anything in a portrait length but that ...
-
That was my plan. $279 is going to be tough to beat. Thanks.

I haven’t seen anything comparing these two similar lenses. Is the Sony worth more than double the price? I’m using the 18-135 as my main walk around lens and have a Rokinon 12 for extra wide. I ...

I bought a used/like new 6400

Interesting that they are starting with the 6400 rather than the 6600. Either way, this is good news for their future APS-C cameras. I think the idea that they are moving towards APS-C as a ...
-
It’s just a matter of how long you will need to wait. I wanted a new camera now, so I got a used 6400 with plans to upgrade again when the next gen aps-c camera is ready.
-
I don't know what is happening but I seriously doubt that they will completely discontinue the APS-C line. The only logical way to do it would be with an upgraded A7C body with a higher mp sensor ...
-
Camera has arrived, looks like new from the exterior. The sensor is visibly clean and a photo of a blank wall looks clear. Just uploaded a photo to a shutter count test site and it came back at ...

Just found a 6400 in E condition from Adorama for $769. Done. Will start to get better lenses and consider a new body if and when the next APSC camera comes!
-
That went quick. I’ll start looking there every day. I have mpb supposed to email me when they have one in stock for the 6400 or 6600. Are there other reliable resellers other than those and Adorama?
-
I’m trying to use resellers/camera shops, not ebay. Any advice on where to look? I’ll pay retail for something that has been professionally evaluated and is in excellent working condition.
-
That’s certainly an issue although the AF improvement from the NEX-5N should also be night and day from what I’m used to. Stupid chip shortage is making this way harder than it needs to be.
-
At this point, just finding a6600 or 6400 is challenging. I’m tempted to get a cheap used 6000 and new lenses and then wait for another cycle to upgrade the body.
-
I think I'm closing in on my final plan: a6600 Tamron 17-70/2.8 Sony 70-350 I have a Rokinon 12/2.0 mf for landscape/astro I think for about the same price as an A7iv with 1 lens, this will keep me ...
-
Thanks to everyone for their input here. I think I've talked myself into circles and realized that FF just isn't worth it for me. My new plan is to find an a6600 (there are reliable resellers ...
-
Yes, I’m looking at used. 30 day return window and then 90 day “warranty”. Yes, it’s a bit of a risk but I’m only looking at retailers who sell used, not ebay, etc. I will probably get the 6600 ...
-
I'm finally getting around to upgrading my NEX-5N. I only have the kit lenses (16, 18-55 and 55-210) so getting better lenses is also in the plan. Probably the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 rather than the ...

I got an email from Sony today that the A7 iv was back in stock in limited quantity. Sold out already. Hopefully this is a sign than more will be shipped out to retailers as well.
-
That’s a good point about the A7C grip being larger than the 5N. As for the A7Riv used idea, I think the better autofocus and processor will do more for me than extra megapixels.
-
I realize I was a little unclear about “size” by which I was mostly concerned with grip depth. From that comparison site and from what I’ve read online, the A7C grip depth is the smallest of the ...
