Do you remember leisurely afternoons with your grandmother telling you stories of djinn and animals with magical powers? This scene evokes the sentiment of those warm moments I shared with my grandmother...

  • Submitted a challenge entry Kandanar Kelan
Legend has it that Kandanar Kelan, an ancient warrior, was out hunting in the forest when it suddenly caught fire. Finding no other means of escape Kandanar Kelan climbed a tree but the fire consumed him still. When another warrior god saw Kandanar Kelan’s ashes in the burnt forest, he traced his form with a bow and gave him back his life. The Theyyam celebrates both Kandanar Kelan’s revival and his anger towards the fire which burnt him up.
