EHDesigns' current gear

Pentax K200D
Pentax K-3 II
Pentax K-5
An adequate first DSLR. I liked the AA batteries and weather sealing, but it is slow to focus and performs poorly in low light/high ISO. It tends to underexpose and saturation and contrast are a bit off.
Great camera body. Delivers outstanding images in a well built package with great ergonomics. Metering is excellent and autofocus is accurate! Autofocus (beyond focus accuracy) and video are not up to my expectations and industry standards. After four years it is beginning to falter and I am not happy about that.
HD PENTAX-D FA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR
Pentax smc DA 55-300mm F4.0-5.8 ED
I have had mixed success with this lens, very good results and some not so good. When I want the reach of a telephoto lens, I now go for the Sigma 150-500 more often than not.
Pentax smc DA* 55mm F1.4 SDM
Pentax smc D-FA 100mm F2.8 Macro WR
Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM
Excellent lens. Outstanding IQ throughout the aperture range, sharp across the image, reasonably fast and quiet focus, great build quality except for the hood (which pops off occasionally), and the WR works great (have used this with the K-5 in a downpour without problems).
Outstanding lens in a small, well built weather resistant design. Autofocus is slow and loud, but accurate. I like this lens and use it a lot. I have used this lens many times in the rain without problems.
Very sharp in the center throughout focal range and at all apertures. Quiet and fast focusing. OS works great, but is a bit noisy. As expected the lens is big and heavy, but reasonably well designed.
Adobe Photoshop CS6 extended
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5
Oloneo Photoengine
Topaz Adjust
Great and fast HDR engine, but produces too many artifacts too often.
Other gear:
  • Epson Perfection V550 Photo Flatbed Scanner
  • Metz 48 AF-1 Flash
  • Sears 55mm f/1.4, M42 screw mount I don't use it often (due to its inconvenience as a screw-mount lens), but it delivers admirably when I do.
