Servo is servo. Some are a little faster. No need to make us buy new lenses for APS and MFT. Its crappy and overamplified IQ is tiring to look at. Cheap MF body with 4k/8k, now that would make lenshopping fun and for 50% usage - no need for af.

...and my expedition pics from 10 years ago with a D40 - wonder how I could have shot great pics with very basic AF...

wakaba: My phone killed my Nikons. It's networked, does 4k, raw and lasts 1day and costs 500$. I will not buy a Nikon FF anymore. I however would buy a networked, 4k, raw MF body running Android with mirror or mirrorless with glaslrism and as usable as a BlacKmagic cinema. That is worth to me 1000$. Restructuring is just a shuffle and means squat to me as a consumer. Change your product now or die.

F off. A FF is marginally better than my phone and in most ways way worse. I own two FF from Nikon. Liten up. Nikon has nothing except old concepts. I want MF and 4-8k and none of what they have today. And they need to come down witheir pricing....massively.

Nope. This is old crap. I want a simple MF DSLR with 4 or 8k video from Nikon, no AA. I am willing to pay 200$ more than a D610 because of the bigger sensor. I want declicked Nikon superwide angles and 35mm equivalence primes. What I dont want to hear about anymore is APS and unusable vid interfaces and gigantic bodies. I dont even need autofocus. Till this happens I will not buy another DSLR. I will instead use my backup D7000 and my Blackmagic.

Trying to mimik properties of lenses in a productrange is not really happening. You are essentially building experience that allows you to correct for deficiencies what ever they are.

"Lens-Money" is better spent on the movie script and in the end it does not matter because your Cableoperator is compressing and mangling the video.

dccdp: What kind of news is this? These specifications look like those you can read on the packaging of a cheap chinese tablet. No panel type? 100 000 000:1 contrast? Really? This is either an OLED (in which case one has to ask why they don't brag about it), or it's that kind of "dynamic" contrast, i.e. fake. I have learned to be skeptical of such announcements, because usually when manufacturers leave out key info (and make up unsubstantiated numbers) it means their product is just a common and uninteresting piece of hardware.

Please, dpr, don't leave out the most important specs about a possibly useful device.

dpr is owned by Amazon. Its a marketing tool i.e promotional, adspace. propaganda. Its nicely tailored not to upset marketers and interface consumers. Its a saleschannel.

Well, lack of investment in real R&D makes only incremental changes possible and phones do 90% of what a DSLR does most of the time.

I would love to own a cheap and simple Nikon MF, 60mb DSLR that uses FF lenses with two slots, big battery and uncompressed 4K thats waterproof. More like Blackmagic. Do I get it? No.

Though little cars, fun to drive because of the low COG. The Midget is quite underrated with its square wheelbase and low center of gravity.

Meaningless product made by people who lost touch for people to record nothingness. Pass. Hey Nikon I want a simple MF Body that does 4k like Blackmagic with FF lenses. That's 1200$ worth to me.

Josh Leavitt: Nope. A "budget" cine lens would be the Rokinon CV lines. $250-$600 for focal lengths between 12mm T2.2 and 135mm T2.2; reasonably decent quality too for the price. If you're just getting started in videography, those are what you should probably go for.

ABM: We did a comparison with high priced equipment where we needed sharpness in a high contrast test environment shooting from different angles. The cheap and modern lenses were much better in many varied scenarios than Zeiss, Arri. You have no idea what you are talking about.

(unknown member): Looks promising. Computational photography is the future and with cellphone sensors advancing and prices for sensors and CPUs coming down, things will only get better. The camera is already significantly smaller than a DSLR with the corresponding focal length lenses

That would be the case if they use large chips and real lenses. Here software is used to mimick that scenario. This is the classic upsampling and amplification trap with vendor lock in and not sound engineering. Not buying it.

Nikon FF are missing simple and meaningful 4k vid. I would like to progress to MF vid. I am tired of the same FF feature rehash. I live the Nikon lenses. Sony? Never heard of them. 1979 Trinitron and Walkman...

RJSNIKON: My first DSLR. I was so proud. Fantastic camera. I made thousends of fantastic photo's with it. And so robust. I'm working in archeology, with moist and mud. Dropped it in an excavation pit once. It fell 1.5 meter ans ended up in de mud. No big deal.

But after a few years the D300 was launched. That was a big step ahead...

Gifted mine to Kids. They used it for a long time. It quit after 10 years of heavy use in Africa. My D600 fell 1.5m and sprang into a thousand pieces. Need a new main cam...hate my 7000 backup.

jwasturias: Can a small mobile phone sensor with even the best possible lens resolve 28mp?
I read somewhere that a 18mp dslr far outresolves that super high resolution Nokia phone (Nokia Lumia 41 Megapixel Camera Phone) in terms of real pictures.

Agree. The max 28 is also only the lenscenter and only on a perfect cold day in a lab in a closeup. At 28 or more you start to see the air vibrating and the sensor vibrate when heating up.
