sh10453: Thanks for this report. A great lens to have. It covers the rage of 5 wide angle lenses!

I still shoot with my original 16-35mm f/2.8 L (call it mark I).
I love that lens, and I have no intention to spend over $2,000 to upgrade because I don't think I'd get my money's worth upgrading.

Canon's L glass is very much in a league of its own.

I totally agree 16 / 35 F4 IS L is a great lens. If you have it already keep it your money is better spent on a new prime

On article In Fine Detail: Canon EOS 5DS / 5DS R In-Depth Review (708 comments in total)

50MP brilliant, fantastic and stunning detail if you use it on a good tripod and wireless remote and IS turned off and mirror lock up engaged (Which I am happy to do)

For most shots Hand Held I find shooting Raw Medium 28MP gives very good results.

ergonomics I find no difference to my old 5DMK111

I would highly recommend my 5DS R for all but motor sport and the like for which I use the 7D (soon to be MK11)

If you can justify 2 bodies, 5DS R and 7D MK11 and you have in my opinion all the bases covered.
