Kryojenix: Why no fully articulating rear LCD? WHY?! <(ToT)>

Because the a99ii is still king. No spray and pray on dance photos like nikon and Canon ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ‘

trungtran: No comparison to IBIS. True videographer will use a gimbal where possible.

We only use gimbal or tripod depending what we are doing never hand hold or ever put an a7s on my shoulder

I'll stick to my moza, no random bunny hopping and it's outstanding with the a7s series

Funny Valentine: So it has a new IBIS mechanism but it's still 5.5 stops ? And needs digital crop to make it barely work. This pretty much confirms the E-mount is too small for IBIS to work properly. Sorry Sony, it doesn't matter how good your 4K looks but if it's shaky and unstable it will look bad. Maybe it's time to introduce a new mount with the correct size.

ibis is irrelevant you shoot buttery smooth video on a gimbal with no ibis enabled cameras...

Now if someone invented a hotshoe frying pan you could shoot video and cook your breakfast at the same time

Vignes: For this price segment:
it looks like Sony is going into specialise path and Canon is going for one body do all path with compromise - record limit and heat management.
SONY:
1. video performance focus, A7Siii upto 4K120. limited to 12 mpx stills
2. sports stills performance focus, A9ii 20fps, can do video but limited to 8bits, 4K30-100mpbs.
3. Hi res stills performance focus, A7R iii/iv, video limited to 8 bit, 4K30-100mbps with a crop.
if you want a high stills fps >10 fps, 4K30 or 60 with 10bit and tied with E lens, you have to buy the A9 ii and the A7Siii.
with Canon, that's just R5 but with record limit and heat issues. the 1DXiii is a good option but with a high price BTW still cheaper than buying A9ii+A7Siii and we can use those EF lens. EF also works well with R system.
it's all about budget, lens collection and what works for us.
Would a Canon user with heaps of EF lens go for a Sony body with 3rd party adaptor?
Don't think a Sony user with E lens is going to jump to Canon.

Why would you use ibis to shoot video

Canikon can stick that in their pipes and smoke it

KubeKube: To beat the competition, I will expect nothing less than (4-4-4) 16K internal video capabilities at 120 fps unlimited.

The a7siii has 4k/120p with external fan and no overheating nonsense

Link | Posted on Jul 16, 2020 at 22:03 UTC

If a device cannot function without overheating then theres a serious design issue. Shouldn't be looking at work arounds or temp fixes you should be able to shoot max time limit without issue.

Poor design from canon

Raynaud: The last major sporting event was the super bowl.
All you saw was DSLRs. Maybe there were a few mirrorless cameras in the sea of hundreds of DSLRs, but no more than a few.

A couple years ago the same people were saying mirrorless would be in the majority at sporting events by now. They were hilariously wrong. So now theyโ€™ll cry wait til next year!!
What they donโ€™t get is a certain mirrorless company has the worst reputation for professional support, and so everyone is waiting on Canon (and some on Nikon).

Dinosaurs stuck in their ways, same in every industry
