cgarrard: Time for a recall, I'm sure Canon are all over it already in the production centers.

Carl

Yes, it's quite easily spotted.

Canon claim their cameras able to photograph 'Dark Matter'?

CameraLabTester: 60% Fail Rate is totally off the scale for a precision instrument.

Quality Control total fail.

.

10 copies of each of 2 models = 20.
4+2 = 6 defective sensors.
Thus 6 out of 20 in total = 30%

wmac: No one detected (or saw!) these dots on the sensor during assembly and QC?

That's quite interesting!

4 possibilities off the top of my head:
1. Entrained air
2. Volatiles in the adhesive
3. Volume shrinkage of adhesive
4. Patchy adhesion
Most probably 1 or 2

Canon also keeping up with the times?
When times are tough, just cutting back on QA seems to be the solution.

JameOl: Quite cool. Despite not many new features it is visibly faster. Really like the update.

Barry, that does certainly seem to be the reality.
Would have been nice for Adobe to point that out though ;-)

random.lt: Standalone trial link:

Go to:
https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html

paste this to address bar:

http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/LTRM/6/win64/Lightroom_6_LS11.exe

press ENTER

First link is only needed to generate "referrer" :)

Agree Frank,
Mine says Adobe Lightroom CC in the about box.
Also has Adobe Download Manager on my windows desktop so one assumes this is the CC version and the standalone trial doesn't exist.
However, from a limited trial it is faster (image rendition) than LR4 but some of the interface is still 'jerky'.
I'll probably end up updating as it currently stands just to have access to my D810 files in LR. Will look into the other 'bells and whistles' when time allows.

Tried this "Access denied"

EDIT
Apologies, one has to go to the first link and then paste: "http://trials3.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/LTRM/6/win64/Lightroom_6_LS11.exe"
So far seems to be working (i.e. it is downloading)
I did clear cookies and logout from Adobe first - not sure if that had any effect.
Thank you :-)

Everything I've tried takes me back to CC.
Annoying.

So there is no perpetual license trial download I take it?

Lee (sigh) asks for sign-in and then goes to the creative cloud download.
Seems Adobe perpetual license is indeed a myth.

Lee, same BS.
Also deleted cookies.
Takes you back to the CC page.
If you have a direct link to the trial (non CC) then please post.
Right now the 'perpetual license' is looking like a myth - unless you purchase without a trial.

Tried that Lee, say result.
Maybe because Adobe re-routes to their MENA server.
One thing for certain they're pushing CC down one's throat.
Thanks for the suggestion

Zvonimir Tosic: Magazines like Communication Arts are full of stuff like this, and call this photography, but I don't agree with it.

This is actually digital illustration work, but done through elements of photography. So this is not photography per se.

It is staged, and unreal. Same as life in the movie set is not real life of a person, but staged. And we don't call movies real life.

Photography, likewise, is supposed to memorise elements of reality, or, the truth. And even then, when going through a mountain of negatives that showed truth, photographers would look at all of them to pick one where all nuances of truth were the most obvious and overwhelming.

"Photography, likewise, is supposed to memorise elements of reality, or, the truth."
You mean like a photograph of one's spouse looking back at you with an expression of love or desire?
( :-) just in case)

Love it that Tamron/Sigma et al are putting pressure in the majors - Canikon.
Exceptionally good news for the consumer - for a change ;-)

Seeing ISIS going through that museum smashing 3000 year old artifacts with sledgehammers... Just awful.

Or the countries that aid and abet them by supplying arms and munitions.

Roger Cicala has some data Lensrentals that shows variations on some lenses.
Certainly not a myth.
