Pet Eye tracking in the clincher for me.

I'm selling up and swapping to Sony now!

Bravo for getting this over hurdles and through hoops to market.

Why though?

"because we can"

I'm trying hard to see when this will fit. Apparently some really strange choices. Ports on the base? That's odd. 'Old' tech, repackaged. It's good to see someone speak their opinion on a camera too. It'll be loved I'm sure but that's a lot of money now when you see what's been rolling out in the mirrorless marketplace these last weeks.

The green welly brigade will lap this up. Will fit in right alongside their Hermes accessories in the Range Rover Vogue.

cosinaphile: the notch in the screen is indicative of souless and aesthetically clueless designers and engineers and the zombie suits that give them permissions and production approval

im frankly shocked by this abomination, steve j.... love him or hate him ... would have sacked theses cretins for their idiocy

That notch struck me too. Yes, tons of great features and cleverness but video playback with a notch in the side? That would irritate me no-end. I'd hope there would be an option to actually play back video to the full 16:9 box, with no indentation in the side.

You'd be gutted if you're bought one of these DJI cameras for full whack, just to see another huge discount for new purchasers.

Stunning. What a genius.
Look past the advertorial bit and it's a beautiful portrait of the photographer too.

It's definitely a try-before-you-buy product.
Could suit some people and usage, not going to be a replacement for a traditional 'Speedlight' I think.
But for video and close work, could be good. Add a modifier to soften the flash and it's going to really limit the output.
Still, curious.

I'll be careful the next time I unload my triple-barrelled Carbon Manfrotto 055cal from the car.

I prefer to have a CHOICE in updating and actually OWN the drone instead of basicly being renting it until DJI decides I need a new one and shuts it down like the spark.

We all know that Tesla can in fact shut any or all of their cars down?
You have a prang in one and you repair, and you don't get your repair certified by them, they shut it down.
My IC engined car too, management system gets upgrades, if I don't allow them to upgrade, my warranty is void.
It goes on, in all walks of life. Better get used to it.

All the anti about them doing compulsory updates? As mentioned here. A drone is an aircraft and needs to be treated as such. These things can fly for long distances for a long time. A ton of damage can be done.
I work in the world of business jets, tiny jets. Sometimes only carry 4 people. Privately owned. Imagine the pilot throwing a tantrum because he's obliged to do regular systems updates, because he feels 'all restricted and big bothered'
Grow up a bit, deal with it. Or just build your own drone to play with and stop whining about DJI doing their very best to keep everyone safe and sound.

Good to read a real-world user feedback on the camera. the 850 is certainly where I will be going. the last 'full body' camera I had was the D3. Since the D800 / 810 and D750 I've never really looked back. Much lighter to lug about and I've not missed the blistering speed of the flagship models in my work.

Onto the samples here. We have to remember that these are from a pre-production model, so In that respect I'm a little surprised they have been released for public consumption and criticism. That said, they are pretty shocking, the jpg compression/sharpening/whatever has destroyed them. Hardly images I'd want to represent a new camera release. :/
