Optical systems are not unique to manufacturing complexities and limitation, as anyone that works in high tech manufacturing will attest. It is no "harder" to make a good lens than it is to make a good electro or opto-mechanical assembly used in many other fields. There is a limitation to what can be manufactured and measured with the available technology and as the technology improves, so does the product. The camera of the future may not even have an optical lens as we know it today, so we can all relax about "how hard it is to make a good lens", and we can start worrying about how hard it is to make bigger better sensors :) Here is an article published in the new york times in December 2015 on photography without a lens.

On article Lightroom 4 Review (460 comments in total)

I am still using LR2 on my 3 year old MAC. I recently upgrade the MAC to OS10.6.8, so I'm ready. I am concern that so many are reporting LR4 to be slower than LR3. I have no use for the book and map module, but I could use the video managing functionality. Could someone give me their opinion on this? Should I upgrade?
