Red Tips (Photinia Rubra) are in bloom in our back yard this week. I always take a few shots and this is one from this years.

  • Submitted a challenge entry Vietnam War Memorial at Sunrise
The one good thing about working on the midnight shift is being up for the amazing sunrises that you're blessed with. I don't know which I like better, sunrises or sunsets. It seems that red is more prevalent at sunrise and yellows and oranges are more vivid at sunset. One thing is for sure that sunrises and sunsets, while fleeting, are immortal!

The red of the sunrise was just something short of spectacular this brisk winter morning and there was no wind. The silhouettes of the Huey helicopter, the flags and the pedestrian bridge crossing the highway at the National Vietnam War Memorial just east of Mineral Wells Texas are just simply breath-taking!

No tripod used, I placed my camera on the top railing of the chain link fence because the colors were changing so fast I didn't think that I'd have time to get the tripod out of the trunk and set it up!
