Did someone post down below (or was it somewhere else) that the 75/1.8 is made by Sigma? Is it true? (seems unlikely to me.

....BTW For those here who may wonder where I've been since last year, my absence has been caused by an illness that involved major surgery (to the brain x2 and countless bouts of radiation and chemotherapy. If I ever get out of this wheelchair, I still hope to get some more usage from my OMD, 75/1.8 and several other m4/3 lenses . With partial paralysis in my left arm and hand, I may have to teach my wife how switch lenses or just use the one that's already mounted when I leave the house. I don't want go back to a P&S but who knows?

Have I missed much?

DPR - You should delete the posts in this coment section from anyone who has posted more than five times about this poll. After that, you'd be left with legitimate responses from normal adults who actually have something to say!

clicstudio: I wonder how many people actually own this camera...
Olympus probably sold just a few of them...
On the other hand, hundreds of thousands of Canons and Nikons were sold in 2012

CIPA numbers say that approximately 13.7 milion DSLRs were shipped for 2012 (through October).

Mirrorless shipments for the same time were about 3 million with Olympus being a major player.

Just a few clicstudio? Really? There are actually hundreds of thousands of OMDs in users hands!

gulffish: Another view, based on thread count today:

1. Nokon D800 223,606
2. Olympus E-M5 52,216
3. Sony RX100 42,264
4. Canon EOS 5D Mark III 4,582

Too bad there isn't a way to limit votes to those who have actually owned the camera they vote for.

Do really think that most of the participants in 223,606 D800 threads actually own the D800? And BTW - Where did you get that number? Got a link?

G Sciorio: The OMD is quite an amazing camera. I shot a very large editorial assignment exclusively with the OMD - http://giuliosciorio.com/portfolio/miami-people/

Just looked at your linked gallery Giulio and think that it is very good. Too bad that some of the OMD detractors here can't bother themselves to see how it actually performs in the hands of an experienced photographer like yourself. Thanks for sharing.

D1N0: The OM-D EM-5 (impossible name) is a fan boy camera. The fan boys are not going to like this, so a small piece of advice. Don't react to this post. It'll just prove my point (if you don't react to this post, you will also prove my point).

My reaction to your post is that you're a fanboy yourself but maybe not for Olympus - LOL

David Burren: The most interesting news (for me) from Olympus is the new 15mm/8 lens. But no mention of it here? What gives?

As a fixed-aperture manual-(2-step)-focus lens it should even work on Pany bodies (although the lack of in-body stabilisation might be a drawback at f/8). At the suggested price it's almost a no-brainer: a slightly expensive lens cap that doubles as a super-cheap 30mm-e walkaround lens. It'll be interesting to hear more about it over time.

But not even a mention? Had me double-checking that I wasn't imagining it. :)

Yes I'd like to see DPR do a preview article on the 15/8 with a sample gallery of photos.

Hasselblad is trying to survive the impending demise of MF. Can't blame them for trying.

These posts, some of them, show that DPR has become a magnet for malcontents who lack civility and only want to tear down those who have gained recognition by making clever comments but the unintended result is to embarrass themselves along with this site.

Is this the first Panny lens offered in silver? If so, it seems a little odd. I don't pay that much attention to Panny cameras but it seems like their camera bodies are usually black except as an option for the low end GF models.

The thumbnails just above this comment section still have that ISO 8000 bowl of ice cream.

JesseAU: You can test out this lens at the Digital Show in Melbourne this weekend. They have demo om-d's set up with different lenses and a pretty blond model to aim at. It handles great on camera although af is noticably slower than the other primes

Also, the Oly guys said the next 3 OM-D shipments will be black only!

DPR: "Autofocus is fast and, though doesn't quite have the near-instant feel of its 45mm sibling, any difference is only really noticeable when making large changes in focus distance (for example close-focus out to infinity). Making smaller adjustments is extremely fast."

Louis_Dobson: Count me in.

With the OM-D, 12, 25, 45 and 75, I really do feel I've got that tiny but ultra-effective kit I always wanted.

Well done Oly (and Panny, with the 25), you are making me a very happy bunny these days.

My plan is to have the 20/1.7, 45/1.8 and 75/1.8 and then possibly the 12/2 at a later time. And no whining about hoods, etc. If you want something and are willing to pay for it, life is a lot more enjoyable without this angst over superfluous issues.

D200_4me: Optional lens hood. Come on Olympus....really? I had to pay nearly $90 for a hood for the 12mm f/2.

No you didn't. Cheapo rubber hoods are all over Ebay for every size.

There should have been a longer time for entrants to get their submissions ready. Just a few more days would have been very helpful to a large number who have just recently obtained their OM-D.
