Lan: That 50mm seems to have really bad LoCA, and I mean really bad. The model in the sample pic has a number of green hairs, her gold earrings have quite a bit of green. Even the reflections in her eyes have green outlines. Maybe she was jealous of the new lenses ;)

Forgot the word "existing". :-) And even that can be misleading.

My thought too (except for the reflections in the eyes, that's undecided). And it's almost impossible to remove. While the 50mm is so good in this regard.

schaeferjuergen: How are UHS-II SD cards cheaper when you need two of them to be at least as safe as with one XQD card?

Coming together they still are.

The Leica ones have something special.

Carol T: Geez, throw in another $300 and get the Z6. By the time you buy a body and lenses and use all that for years, the $300 gets averaged out to nothing.

For many people it would be 300 plus a few hundreds for XQD.

(unknown member): wow. 1899 usd / € 1999 for a non-stabilized, tiny niche brand DSLR-only 85/1.4 in 2020. some people really must have too much money.

Meanwhile the excellent Canon EF 85/1.4 L IS works flawlessly on mirrorslappers as well as mirrorfree EOS R bodies and can be had for about € 1300 after cashback. or one can pick it up in hardly used mint condition or a Canon EF 85/1.2 L II for well under a grand.

Pentax ... a value proposition. not.

It surely cannot picked up yet in hardly used mint condition. I would advise everyone to wait for its release before considering offers like that.

fPrime: “Never let a good crisis go to waste” might apply well here for Nikon. Let’s blame the poor market penetration of the Z cameras on the coronavirus, for example. 🤣

I am charmed by their camera's (esp. Z6) and their 50mm lens, that is reasonably priced, not too big and of very good quality. If the camera had an SD-slot I would have bought it already. But I will not pay a few hundred EUR's extra for XQD.

mska59: Vuescan is the answer. I used it with the medium format without problems but for the 24x36 it's not the best, Reflecta RPS (Pacific Image in USA) works better.

Almost the same for me! I bought a VueScan full licence around 15 years ago and I still get free updates. Scanning film rolls works fast and easy once you figure out the optimal workflow. But once you have a Vuescan version that works fine for your scanner, stick to it, don't be tempted by further updates.

Bertrand Mignon: Helllo,

Shoudn't an APS-C crop of a 60 Mpx sensor = 40 Mpx and not 20Mpx (a 1.5 factor).

No, it's 60/(1.5)**2, not 60/1.5.

The K-01 still has good value on the second hand market, 7 years after its release.

Jon555: I'd have liked you to ask about why their lenses seem to have more sample variation than their competitors (i.e. ignoring low-end players like Samyang), plus the repairability of lenses - are the FF lenses basically glued together like the m43 lenses, so repair is very tricky and out-of-warranty repair might be expensive?

E.g. see "Copy-to-Copy Variation" here:

Marc, Roger Cicala said a few weeks ago, I quote: "They {Samyang} offer remarkable value for what they deliver. But there’s no magic; you don’t get the same build quality, quality control, or optical adjustments that you do in a lens costing 5 times as much."

I think he/she wanted to say: "Samyang does high quality lenses if you have a good copy".
