In reply to:

elkhidir: Both Sony a5100 and Olympus E-PL7 are selling (quite well it seems) for that price. Both have "selfie" screens and lack viewfinders. If there's a market for it, there's nothing wrong with Panasonic getting in. For us consumers it will add to competition and push prices down.

The advantage of the olympus is you can put the vf-2 / vf-4 viewfinders on it and you have a very versatile camera.

Pentax 16-85 3.5/5.6 £599
Pentax 18-135 3.5/5.6 £379
Both WR . Not convinced the extra 2mm @ wide angle 24mm equiv to 27mm equiv is worth the extra £220

$750 = £470 give or take a couple of quid. BUT Pentax uk are selling this in the uk for £600 ?? Once again another example of how Pentax are screwing the uk consumer.

These comparisons are meaningless because it doesn't matter which is best, the winner will always be a canon or nikon.

What a lost opportunity ?? All Olympus had to do was put a small viewfinder on this like panny LF-1 ,call it Trip digital and you've got a sure fire winner.

I just posted same comment without seeing yours. I got $1.596 to to £ yesterday making this equiv to £628 saying its a scandal, I think you are being very polite.

Cost $999/£999 $999=£628 at today's exchange rate. Yet another rip off for the British consumer.

I thought what a great camera Olympus had made when I got my xz-1. Now the lens unit has appeared on the Pentax mx-1 & now the Casio I have to wonder did olympus make any of the xz-1 ? I suspect all three come out of the same factory. Now olympus have launched the stylus 1 how long before the 28-300 lens unit appears on other makes ?

Wow, a Canon 100d in white. But then again I could buy a Pentax K50 in 120 colour combinations. 20 body colours x 6 grip colours.

I stopped carrying a dslr when I got an Olly xz-1wiyh vf-2. I thought it would be nice to have a longer zoom and built in vf. Think Olympus have answered my prayers.

Piggy the bad: I have to wonder is the Panny fz200 a better overall bet ?

This isn't such a silly question. Having bought last year an Olympus xz-1 I very rarely carrying my Pentax k10 with me. The performance of these small sensors is so good that I don't think you can draw a comparisons like you could with different film sizes.

Canon name their cameras differently for Europe, Americas, Asia to stop grey importing.

I think this could be very bad news. Remember when Konica/Minolta announced they were working with Sony. The next thing that happened was Sony took them over. I fear very much for Hasselblad as a company now this tie up has been announced. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.
