  • Replied in Hasselblad
Probably both :) I still consider the original A77 as the best camera ever, that's why I was considering an A99 (I do have something more "modern", but this doesn't mean I like it more).
  • Replied in Hasselblad
One more question: from my understanding the only difference with a regular A99 is the body shell. Is that correct? Does the camera use Sony firmware?
  • Created discussion thread Hasselblad
Does anyone have experience with the Hasselblad HV? I was looking for an A99, when I found a used HV at a reasonable price, but I'm a bit skeptical. I wonder - for example - what happens if I need ...
  • Thanks for the link, but as I said, I already checked these folders and I found no file which appears to be responsible for this ACR profile. It must have been installed somewhere else.
  • A/B testing. (Over)simplifying a bit, you shoot all the day with some filter X; next day you shoot without. Assuming your skill didn't change significantly ;) you check if the ratio of good ...
  • Thanks, but I'm curious: do you know where precisely they would be stored? There must be a file somewhere, but I cannot find it. I checked the obvious places and there's no file called "ACR x.y" or ...
  • Replied in Third harm
Yes, it would be interesting to know more. I'm a Sony/Minolta shooter. My glorious Sony A580 doesn't like polarizers: if you put one on, you'll generally see some pink/purple banding in the Live ...
  • In general, I'm a fan of statistical data. For example, in Lightroom, I'd just count how many pictures I made with a particular lens, and how many of them I rated 4/5 stars; this ratio is a good ...
  • thanks for the reply, so, a decent test could be: take the longest focal length possible, a tripod and take two pictures with/without filter? Any other setting to maximize the likelihood of ...
  • Created discussion thread Lightroom ACR camera profiles
Hi, not a very important question, but I'm curious: I use Lightroom 6 and I just reinstalled it on a different computer. I noticed that on my old Mac, if I go to "camera calibration > profiles" I ...
  • Created discussion thread Filter testing methodology
Hi everyone, I 'm often involved in discussions about "clear" filters (e.g. glass protectors, UV, etc. the glass that is supposed to minimally affect the picture and that you can keep on the lens ...
  • Created discussion thread Gimbal Head weight and features
Curiously, I see that gimbal heads are a popular topic, these days, and I was considering a gimbal head myself. I'm planning to use it only occasionally, and with some heavy lens, possibly a 70-200 ...
  • What precisely you didn't like? I didn't find it that bad, on the opposite (given the price) I was pretty much happy...
  • As a reference, I also found this, which looks interesting: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073RS751Q/ which is advertised as "partially compatible with the A99ii". I guess that means that it ...
  • I bought this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N63S2YF/ Pretty good for the price, but I have to admit I never used it on the A99ii (I ended up using an A850 at the time).
  • The camera was actually able to choose well. As a rule, if you know how a system works in "auto mode", you can generally predict if the situation is suitable for auto mode, or if it requires some ...
  • I noticed, but it also says: AF Status 11 F3 : Back Focus (+173) +173 is definitely not the smallest value in the set, so I'm not exactly sure about how to interpret it. Moreover, it also reports: ...
  • Yes, I'm familiar with the rule you quote, but I was shooting at 70mm. Anyway, I think you missed my point: I guess there's some difference between targeting a flying hawk and an animal that was ...
  • As I may have mentioned, I usually take landscape pictures so my experience with moving targets is limited, but yesterday I did take several (good) shots with the 70-400 handheld at 1/100. My ...
  • Correct: I don't see it as a problem... because it is not :) I was not trying to take pictures of a Lamborghini running at max speed, but of a slowly moving object... In fact, several of the ...
