JE River: Sorry if a silly question, but is that natural bioluminescence or did you use a light to make the photo? We have bioluminescence where I live, but never anywhere that bright.

Awesome shot either way though. Great work.

Thanks yeah it’s all natural no artificial lighting, but I’ve brighten the image a little in post.

Thanks

themountainphotographer: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is the other end of Wales to me. I have been to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch twice. Not much to see except the very large sign that says Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. However, the tat shop, sorry tourist centre in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is pretty decent. I did buy my fav mug from there which has Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch printed on it in big friendly blue letters.

Joking aside, that is a really fab photo. Very desrverd 1st place. Top image.

Haha...thank you...that train station gets loads of visitors every yr.

So because of that fear Canon fired their R&D department some 10 yrs ago and just producing cameras that were planned 10 yrs ago with 5 yr old sensors.

The only reason people still buy canon is because of lenses and that is also changing fast.

So yeah u r right Mr.CEO your company is going down while others r doing great.

Ben Raven: The most arresting shot of a classic windmill I have ever seen,
And one that truly captures the essence of a WINDmill.

WIND and MILL and TIME as one !

A hearty congratulations on your originality.

Thanks Ben

In reply to:

JacobSR: Beautiful scene. I was wondering if you use artificial lighting, the rocks and the grass in the foreground are nicely exposed.

The grass is lighter because its being illuminated from behind by the sun.

The sun is not completely down so obviously there was still light and there were some clouds that made the shadows on the rocks a bit soft.

Linus,

Thank you for your comment, show me one image on 500px.com on first page that is not processed in one way or another? If you expect to win with straight out of camera shots then you must be living in some other world?

Hi Thanks, its just one shot with no artificial lighting, just exposed properly and then a little post processing in LR4.

Actually the sunlight was extra bright that day and this hill is actually very green but yes I did add a bit of saturation for printing. But thanks for liking the photo :)
